Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cost Accountant with strong expertise in costing, financial reporting, compliance, and SAP-based operations within the FMCG industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing cost accounting functions, ensuring accurate book closures, driving MIS reporting, maintaining data integrity, and supporting strategic decision-making through strong analytical insights.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting & Book Closure

- Manage monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual closure of books of accounts.

- Ensure timely preparation and finalization of financial statements in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

- Conduct reconciliations and verify accuracy of cost records, inventory valuations, and expense allocations.

- Maintain a strong control environment and ensure adherence to accounting standards.

2. MIS & Data Management

- Prepare detailed MIS reports related to costing, budgets, operations, variance analysis, and profitability.

- Maintain strong data accuracy and controls, ensuring complete understanding and management of trailiazation or month-end entry closure processes.

- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and timely reporting for management review.

3. Costing & Budgeting

- Prepare and analyze product costing, overhead absorption, standard costing, and variance reports.

- Monitor production cost trends and provide actionable insights for cost optimization.

- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning processes.

- Evaluate cost structures and recommend improvements to enhance profitability.

4. Compliance & Audit Support

- Manage statutory compliance related to TDS, GST, and other financial regulations.

- Ensure timely filings and documentation for audits (internal, statutory, and tax audits).

- Stay updated with the latest amendments in tax and accounting regulations and ensure implementation.

5. SAP & Process Improvement

- Work extensively on SAP (or related ERP modules)minimum 5 years hands-on experience.

- Participate in designing, updating, and implementing SOPs, workflows, and SAP structuring for accounting and costing functions.

- Drive automation and process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

6. Team Management

- Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, ensuring timely deliverables.

- Allocate work, monitor performance, and support skill development within the team.

- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Production, Procurement, Finance, and Operations.

7. Analytical & Numerical Expertise

- Strong knowledge of accounting ratios, financial metrics, and performance indicators.

- Conduct variance analysis, trend analysis, and provide financial insights to support management decisions.

Required Skills & Competencies:

- Qualified Cost Accountant (ICWA/CMA) Mandatory

- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the FMCG sector

- Strong expertise in SAP (FI, CO or other related modules)

- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills

- In-depth knowledge of cost accounting principles and Indian taxation laws

- Strong proficiency in MS Excel and financial modelling

- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Preferred Attributes:

- Experience in managing costing for large-scale FMCG manufacturing units

- Knowledge of inventory management and supply chain cost controls

- Exposure to business analytics and dashboard reporting tools
