
Description:
- Raw Material (RM) Sourcing & Procurement Leadership
- Lead the procurement of all chemical raw materials across domestic and international markets.
- Develop category-wise sourcing strategies covering pricing, supplier footprint, risk, and material availability.
- Ensure timely availability of raw materials with optimal inventory levels aligned with production plans.
- Negotiate contracts and long-term agreements ensuring best value, quality, and supply security.
Supplier Development & Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with global and regional suppliers.
- Identify new suppliers, evaluate capabilities, and lead supplier qualification in coordination with Quality & R&D.
- Drive supplier performance metrics including OTIF, quality compliance, reliability, and cost improvement.
- Conduct supplier audits and risk assessments for critical RM categories.
Cost Management & Commercial Excellence:
- Lead annual cost-reduction, negotiation, and value-engineering initiatives
- Track commodity market trends (crude, olefins, specialty intermediates) and translate insights into procurement decisions.
- Build negotiation strategies and secure competitive pricing through contracts, hedging (if applicable), e-auctions, and volume leverage.
- Drive year-on-year cost optimization projects without compromising quality or reliability. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, and Finance to align supply, specifications, and cost.
- Partner with R&D for alternative raw material assessments, re-formulation opportunities, and value engineering initiatives.
- Coordinate with Logistics for import planning, customs clearance, and global shipping efficiencies.
Risk Management & Business Continuity:
Develop a robust risk management framework covering:
- single-source vulnerabilities
- geopolitical and supply chain disruptions
- import dependencies
- price volatility
- Build dual sourcing strategies and long-term supply agreements for critical materials.
- Ensure business continuity planning for key RM categories.
Process Excellence & Compliance:
- Standardize and strengthen procurement processes, policies, and SOPs.
- Ensure strict compliance with regulatory norms, REACH, quality certifications, and ethical procurement standards.
- Drive the adoption of procurement digital tools, analytics dashboards, and ERP integration (SAP or similar).
- Ensure timely closure of POs, contracts, and vendor documentation.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead and mentor the raw material procurement team across multiple sites.
- Set performance goals, build capabilities, and create a high-performance culture.
- Champion collaboration with global teams to leverage scale and best practices.
Competence Essential Education:
- B. Tech / B.E. in Chemical Engineering preferred + MBA is an advantage
Work Experience:
- 1825 years with strong expertise in global and domestic chemical raw material procurement
Knowledge:
- Should have Lead procurement of more than 2500 Cr.
- Should have experience of procuring 300+ raw materials.
- Deep understanding of chemical raw materials, intermediates, value chains and global commodity markets.
- Expertise in import procurement, international logistics, and global sourcing.
- Experience with procurement systems
