- The Global Head of Engineering - Platforms will be responsible for the successful development platform engineering space, working closely with the three product engineering verticals: Media, Retail, and Insights. - They will utilize the best science from the company's Research Data Science teams to lead the global teams accountable for platform development and engineering across these products. KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITES: - Robust technical expertise to effectively lead relatively large-scale platform-based engineering unit - Spearheading technology adaptation, optimising scalability, and fostering interoperability to keep the platform at the forefront of innovation - A hands-on practitioner of agile methodologies for continuous improvement and driving a culture of innovation within the team - Effectively engaging stakeholders, with the ability to influence without direct ownership - Holding engineering counterparts to account and driving the overall technology roadmap - Building platform features and capabilities to facilitate development for the product engineering functions - Driving the successful adoption of new platform capabilities across the organization - Contributing to the vision for the company's platforms and using that to inspire the Product Engineering teams to build the products in line with that vision - Developing and committing to the relevant roadmaps, ensuring they are achievable within the budget and timeframes agreed - Overseeing the Platform Engineering teams, ensuring delivery is on time and at a high-quality standard, and that any issues are resolved swiftly in line with agreed Service Level Agreements - Managing, coaching, and developing a high-performing Platform Engineering team ensuring appropriate skills development is in place - Leading the formation and embedding of tried and tested platform engineering processes and Agile methodology across teams - Proposing and agreeing the platform budgets and staffing plans to achieve the platform vision and roadmaps and balancing the unforeseen additional needs of the business against the planned spend on platform development - Defining KPIs for the Engineering organization and implementing measurement, analytics, and reporting methods to track performance against budget and plan, intervening as necessary to drive performance - Managing risk effectively, providing visible and consistent leadership on values and code of business conduct, and acting on issues - Protecting the team by ensuring they have the skills and training needed, including completing mandatory training REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any relevant subject - Bring strong technical expertise to drive the technology growth that platform would require - Proven track record in leading platform engineering development across a large-scale organization - Extensive experience in managing a large, technical team geographically distributed over multiple locations - Relevant experience in platform engineering for an industry leader desirable - Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies - Ensure scalability and performance optimization - Foster integration and adoption of platform - Oversee the design and development of user interfaces and base services, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience and expansion across other verticals - Drive the development of data science layers, and accelerators to enhance the platform's analytical and science capabilities - Implement scalable and efficient platform enablement strategies for stakeholders
