About the Role

We are looking for a Chartered Accountant to own our entire finance and compliance function - from global tax and payroll to financial reporting and internal controls. You will work directly with the founders and senior leadership, building systems from the ground up. This is a high-ownership role for someone who thrives without hand-holding.

Key Responsibilities

Tax & Regulatory Compliance (70% of the role)

- Manage global tax compliance: VAT, GST, TDS, corporate tax filings, cross-border withholding obligations.

- Coordinate with external tax consultants and auditors across US, India, and France.

- Ensure MCA/ROC compliance (annual returns, financial statement filings, statutory obligations for India subsidiary).

- Maintain transfer pricing documentation for intercompany transactions.

Equity & Payroll Operations

- Administer stock option program: grant letters, vesting schedules, cap table maintenance.

- Supervise payroll processing and statutory compliance (PF, ESIC, gratuity, professional tax).

- Assist with salary structuring for new hires and increments.

Financial Reporting & Control

- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) - clean, accurate, audit-ready.

- Own month-end and year-end closing cycles: reconciliations, general ledger, MIS reporting.

- Build and enforce internal controls: approval workflows, expense policies, vendor payment processes.

Finance Operations & Invoicing

- Own accounts payable, vendor invoicing, intercompany billing across all entities.

- Support financial due diligence for investor conversations, audits, and fundraising.

- Handle routine legal/compliance tasks in coordination with external partners.

What We're Looking For

- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification - preferred, not mandatory

- 4-6 years of post-qualification experience, ideally a mix of Big4 or mid-tier CA firm + time at a - VC-backed startup.

- Prior experience managing compliance for an Indian subsidiary of a US entity.

- Strong knowledge of global tax obligations: GST, TDS, US corporate tax, EU VAT. Comfortable coordinating with local advisors.

- Proficiency in Excel and accounting tools (Zoho Books, Tally, or QuickBooks).

- Strong analytical and communication skills - you will work directly with founders.

- Operates independently, proactively flags deadlines and regulatory changes, doesn't need hand-holding.
