Role Overview:

- The Cost Manager - MEP will be responsible for delivering comprehensive post-contract cost management and commercial services for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) packages on complex construction projects.

- The role requires strong technical understanding of MEP systems, excellent commercial acumen, and confidence in client-facing environments.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

- Post-Contract Cost Management (MEP)

Deliver post-contract services for MEP works, including:

- Interim payment applications

- Change management and variation valuation

- Extension of Time (EOT) assessments related to MEP scope

- Monitor and control post-contract cost variances and ensure effective change control procedures.

- Ensure accurate cost checking, valuation, and certification of MEP works.

- Lead final account negotiations and closure with MEP contractors and subcontractors.

Contract Administration:

- Administer standard form contracts, with FIDIC contracts preferred, specifically for MEP packages.

- Ensure compliance with contract procedures, notices, and commercial obligations.

- Provide contractual and commercial advice related to MEP scope to project stakeholders.

Procurement Management (MEP):

Manage end-to-end MEP procurement processes, including:

- Pre-qualification of MEP contractors and vendors

- Tender enquiries and technical/commercial evaluations

- Tender analysis, selection, and contract preparation

- Support procurement strategies to achieve value for money and risk mitigation.

- Cost Reporting & Controls

Prepare and present weekly and monthly cost dashboards, including:

- Executive summaries

- Cost reports

- Estimate / CTC reports

- Procurement and tender reports

- Track forecasts and cash flows related to MEP packages.

- Value Engineering & Cost Optimisation

- Lead value engineering exercises for MEP systems.

- Perform life cycle costing to support sustainable and cost-effective MEP solutions.

- Client & Stakeholder Management

Act in a client-facing role, confidently engaging with:

- Clients

- Design consultants

- Main contractors and MEP subcontractors

- Demonstrate professionalism, authority, and assurance in all interactions.

Required Experience:

- 3-5 years of experience in MEP cost management, quantity surveying, or commercial management.

- Strong experience in post-contract management of MEP packages on large-scale commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects.

- Proven exposure to FIDIC or equivalent standard form contracts.

- Hands-on experience with MEP procurement, cost control, and final accounts.

Key Skills & Competencies:

- Strong technical understanding of MEP systems.

- Excellent commercial, contractual, and negotiation skills.

- Strong reporting and financial management capabilities.

- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.

- Ability to manage multiple MEP workstreams simultaneously.
