Role Overview:

As the General Manager - Transport, you will spearhead all transport and logistics operations across our Nigeria and Kenya markets, driving efficiency, profitability, and sustainable growth. You will be responsible for the complete P&L of the transport division, overseeing fleet operations, warehouse management, vendor relationships, and business development initiatives. This pivotal role requires close collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and key clients to ensure seamless service delivery and exceptional customer satisfaction. Your leadership will directly impact our ability to optimize supply chain performance, reduce operational costs, and expand our market presence in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and execute strategic plans to optimize transport operations, improve service levels, and achieve P&L targets across Nigeria and Kenya.

- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of transport professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

- Manage and optimize fleet operations, ensuring vehicle maintenance, driver safety, and compliance with local regulations to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.

- Oversee warehouse operations, implementing best practices for inventory management, order fulfillment, and distribution to ensure timely and accurate delivery to customers.

- Negotiate and manage contracts with transport vendors, logistics providers, and other key partners to secure competitive rates and maintain high-quality service standards.

- Identify and pursue new business development opportunities, expanding our customer base and market share in the transport sector.

- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.

- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, mitigating risks and protecting the company's reputation.

- Develop and manage the transport budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation and adherence to financial targets.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and providing customized transport solutions to meet their specific requirements.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated ability to manage and optimize transport operations, leveraging technology and data analytics to drive efficiency and improve service levels.

- Proven track record of P&L management, with a strong understanding of financial principles and the ability to develop and execute budgets.

- Expertise in vendor management, including contract negotiation, performance monitoring, and relationship building.

- Strong business development acumen, with the ability to identify and pursue new opportunities to expand market share and increase revenue.

- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve ambitious goals.

- Deep understanding of supply chain principles and logistics best practices.

- Experience in fleet operations and warehouse management.

- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.

- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment and work effectively across different cultures and time zones.
