Position Title: General Manager - Taxation

Level: M5 (GM Equivalent Grade)

Reporting to: Head - Taxation

Geographical Location: India

Job Overview:

The General Manager - Taxation will be responsible for supporting the Group's global tax and transfer pricing strategy, with a strong focus on designing, implementing and defending transfer pricing policies across jurisdictions. The role will involve advising on intercompany transactions, Transfer Pricing documentation, benchmarking, audit defense, global tax structuring, tax cost optimization, tax risk management and ensuring timely compliance with direct and indirect tax laws. The role will also require close coordination with business teams, regional finance teams and external advisors to ensure that the Group's tax and transfer pricing positions are robust, commercially aligned and compliant.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Tax Cost Management and Compliance:

- Lead design, implementation, and governance of the Group's global transfer pricing (TP) framework, including intercompany pricing models, benchmarking, documentation, and alignment with the operating model.

- Oversee and review TP documentation (master file inputs, local files, benchmarking studies, intercompany agreements) to meet global and local compliance requirements.

- Advise business and finance teams on TP implications of business models, cross-border transactions, intercompany services, royalties, financing, and cost allocation structures.

- Identify and manage TP risks, including audits, controversies, consistency of positions, and adherence to OECD and local regulations.

- Support TP audits and disputes, coordinating with advisors, preparing defense documentation, and handling tax authority queries.

- Drive group-level tax cost optimization and support tax-efficient structuring of business arrangements with stakeholders.

- Develop and maintain TP policies/frameworks and ensure global compliance.

- Support tax-efficient international structures, profit repatriation, and operating models aligned with TP, PE, substance, WHT, and anti-avoidance rules.

- Manage overall tax cost across international and domestic taxes, including compliance and withholding obligations.

- Advise on PE, POEM, UK tax regulations (CFC, DPT), VAT, tax residency, and global tax strategy requirements.

International Tax Structures and Guidance:

- Oversee international business and tax structures, including intercompany transactions, transfer pricing, and documentation of transfer pricing and other international tax matters.

- Provide guidance to local finance and project teams on optimal tax structures for new country operations and business models.

- Devise tax efficient mechanisms for repatriation of profits including dividend distributions.

Performance Improvement Initiatives:

- Drive initiatives to improve departmental performance at both company and group levels.

Tax Audits:

- Coordinate tax information flow with external auditors during audits.

Team Management & Succession Planning:

- Manage and develop staff, including performance management, training, and career development.

- Create and maintain a robust talent pipeline to ensure succession planning (1:2 ratio).

Sustainability:

- Oversee corporate governance within the assigned region, ensuring alignment with organisational principles, policies, and regulations.

- Promote judicious use of natural resources and adhere to the organisation's environment, health, and safety policies, objectives, and guidelines.

- Drive the organisation's sustainability initiatives, working towards achieving established targets.

Anti Bribery Management Systems (ABMS):

- Follow the ABMS roles and responsibilities details as prescribed on the ABMS manual.

Education: Chartered Accountant certified by Institute Chartered Accountants India/ Certified Public Accountant.

Experience: 10 - 15 years of experience in Finance and Taxation.
