Position Overview:
The GM-SCM for Hospitals will be responsible for overseeing and managing the hospital's procurement activities, ensuring the efficient acquisition of high-quality medical equipment, supplies, and services. This role requires strategic planning, vendor relationship management, cost optimization, and strict adherence to regulatory standards. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in supporting hospital operations by ensuring the availability of critical resources while optimizing costs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Procurement Planning
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the hospital's operational and financial goals.
- Analyze market trends and forecast procurement needs to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Collaborate with senior management to align procurement objectives with hospital growth and development plans.
2. Vendor Management & Negotiation
- Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate favourable contracts and pricing agreements to ensure cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
- Conduct regular performance assessments of vendors to maintain high service standards.
Operational Excellence.
3. Oversee daily procurement operations, ensuring timely availability of medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and other essential supplies.
- Implement best practices for inventory management, reducing waste and optimizing stock levels.
- Ensure the implementation of efficient procurement systems and processes.
4. Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure procurement activities comply with healthcare regulations, industry standards, and hospital policies.
- Conduct risk assessments related to supply chain disruptions and develop mitigation plans.
- Stay updated on changes in healthcare procurement standards and regulations.
5. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of procurement professionals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and ethical practices.
- Conduct regular training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the procurement team.
6. Cost Optimization and Budget Management
- Develop and manage the procurement department's budget.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction through strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations.
- Monitor procurement expenses and implement cost-control measures.
7. Collaboration and Cross Functional Engagement
- Collaborate with clinical, operational, and administrative teams to understand and address procurement needs.
- Work closely with finance, operations, and IT teams to integrate procurement processes with overall hospital operations.
Educational Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience in procurement within a healthcare or hospital environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Comprehensive understanding of healthcare procurement regulations and practices.
