Purpose - Why does this role exist?:

The Project Manager for the Power Plant and Internal Connectivity role exists to lead the end-to-end engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) of the captive/auxiliary power plant and its integration with the plant's internal electrical grid. Operating within a high-stakes greenfield environment at ISP Rajayyapeta, this position ensures that the industrial plant achieves a highly reliable, cost-effective, and seamless power distribution infrastructure, minimizing future operational downtime and driving the project to complete safely, on time, and within budget and in strict compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements.

One Safety Culture:

- 1. Champion Safety First by embedding safety considerations into all engineering designs, layouts, specifications and technical deliverables.

- 2. Ensure application of safety-in-design principles covering process safety, operational safety, maintainability, access safety, fire protection, emergency response and equipment safety.

- 3. Drive HAZOP, HAZID, risk assessments, design safety reviews and constructability reviews in coordination with Safety, Operations, Construction and Project teams.

- 4. Ensure engineering deliverables comply with applicable statutory, environmental, process safety and industrial safety standards.

- 5. Minimize design-related hazards, unsafe layouts, access constraints, maintenance risks and site execution risks through proactive engineering reviews.

- 6. Ensure that engineering solutions support safe construction, safe commissioning and safe long-term plant operations.

- 7. Promote zero-harm culture through technically robust designs, standardization, disciplined review mechanisms and timely closure of safety-critical design issues.

Key Result Areas (Key Performance Indicators):

- 1. Schedule: Achieve project timeline for power plant commissioning.

- 2. Budget Adherence: Deliver the power plant and connectivity packages within the approved capital expenditure (CAPEX) budget limits.

- 3. Safety Performance: Maintain a Zero Lost Time Injury (LTI) record across all electrical and internal grid installation sites.

- 4. Grid Reliability & Quality: Ensure 100% compliance with grid connectivity standards, voltage stability, and seamless synchronization tests.

- 5. Contractor Delivery Management: Meet 100% of the milestones specified in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts.

- 6. Procurement Efficiency: Complete technical evaluation and final order placement of major long-lead items (turbines, boilers, transformers, switchgears) within planned deadlines.

- 7. Regulatory and Regulatory Compliance: Secure all necessary statutory approvals, clearances, and grid synchronization permissions with zero penalties.

- 8. Risk Management Mitigation: Proactively close 100% of high-priority electrical integration risks before cold commissioning begins.

- 9. Resource Optimization: Maintain optimal resource utilization rates and minimize material wastage during internal network cabling and substation construction.

Critical Tasks (Key Activities):

- 1. Project Planning: Define the detailed project scope, baseline schedules, and critical path for the power plant.

- 2. Engineering Review: Review and approve engineering drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and technical layouts.

- 3. Procurement Support: Technical evaluation of bids for turbines, boilers, switchyards, and sub-stations.

- 4. Site Supervision: Oversee daily civil, mechanical, and electrical construction activities at the Greenfield site.

- 5. Connectivity Management: Coordinate the layout and installation of overhead lines, underground cables, and plant substations.

- 6. Progress Tracking: Conduct regular progress review meetings with contractors, OEMs, and internal teams.

- 7. Commissioning Leadership: Lead the pre-commissioning, testing, cold/hot trials, and final synchronization of the power plant.

- 8. Liaison & Compliance: Coordinate with state electricity boards, electrical inspectors, and regulatory bodies for clearances.

- 9. Budget Monitoring: Track project cash flows, verify contractor billing, and manage variation orders.

- 10. Safety & Quality Audits: Implement strict HSE protocols and conduct regular quality checks on materials and workmanship.
