Key Responsibility Areas (KRA):
1. Leadership and People Development
- Supervise and manage 4 zonal managers, each overseeing multiple clusters of stores (23 clusters per zone, with 34 stores per cluster).
- Foster a collaborative environment that empowers teams to achieve organizational goals.
- Provide regular coaching and mentoring to zonal managers, cluster heads, and store managers to enhance leadership and operational capabilities.
- Implement training and skill development programs aligned with strategic vision and career progression.
- Build a strong talent pipeline by identifying, recruiting, and retaining high-performing individuals.
2. Strategic Business Development
- Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, including store openings and market expansion.
- Collaborate with leadership to set strategic objectives and actionable business plans.
- Strengthen vendor and landlord relationships for cost-effective leasing and expansion.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to maintain competitiveness.
3. Retail Operations Excellence
- Oversee day-to-day operations across 40 stores, ensuring process standardization and policy compliance.
- Develop and implement KPIs for zones, clusters, and stores.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with inventory, customer service, and safety standards.
- Address operational challenges promptly through guidance and support.
4. Financial and P&L Management
- Take ownership of financial performance, ensuring profitability through cost control and revenue initiatives.
- Analyze P&L statements and provide actionable insights.
- Set financial targets for zones and track progress through reviews.
- Optimize resource allocation, workforce planning, and marketing strategies.
5. Merchandising and Inventory Control
- Collaborate with merchandising teams to curate region-specific assortments.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure timely replenishment and prevent stockouts or overstocking.
- Implement best practices to reduce shrinkage and maximize profitability.
6. Team Building and Motivation
- Build a culture of collaboration, accountability, and enthusiasm.
- Recognize and reward top performers to maintain engagement.
- Resolve conflicts effectively and foster a positive work environment.
7. Travel and Store Visits
- Conduct frequent store visits to assess operations and provide real-time support.
- Offer constructive feedback and hands-on guidance during field visits.
- Attend key business events and company initiatives as required.
8. Customer Experience Management
- Drive customer-centric practices to enhance brand reputation and loyalty.
- Implement feedback mechanisms and ensure prompt resolution of issues.
- Design and launch in-store promotions and seasonal campaigns.
Job Description
The General Manager will lead operations for a retail network of 40 stores across India, reporting directly to the leadership team. This role requires strategic thinking, operational expertise, and strong leadership skills to drive growth and operational excellence.
Key Competencies & Qualifications
- Experience: 8-10 years in senior leadership roles within retail, preferably multi-store or regional operations.
- People Management: Proven ability to manage large teams and develop talent.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to analyze trends and make data-driven decisions.
- Operational Expertise: Strong knowledge of retail operations, P&L management, merchandising, and inventory control.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills for influencing and negotiation.
