General Manager - Purchase

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced procurement leader to head the Purchase function in our The role is responsible for driving operational excellence within the Gems & Jewellery business by ensuring efficient sourcing, inventory control, cost optimization, and compliance with industry regulations. The position plays a key role in supporting business growth, protecting margins, and strengthening supplier and stakeholder relationships.

Roles & Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the entire Purchase & Procurement function

- Develop and implement purchase strategies for gold, diamonds, gemstones, and related materials

- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with domestic and international vendors

- Ensure timely procurement while maintaining quality, cost efficiency, and compliance

- Manage price negotiations, contracts, and long-term supplier relationships

- Monitor bullion rates, market trends, and pricing risks

- Coordinate with production, design, finance, and stores for material planning

- Ensure proper inventory control, stock movement, and reconciliation

- Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory norms, and industry regulations

- Implement SOPs, internal controls, and risk mitigation measures in procurement

- Lead and mentor the purchase team to ensure high performance

Desired Profile of the Candidate

- Graduate with 15-20 years of relevant experience in Purchase/Procurement

- Mandatory experience in the Gems & Jewellery industry

- Strong knowledge of sourcing gold, diamonds, gemstones, and jewellery components

- Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and cost-control skills

- Sound understanding of bullion markets, price fluctuations, and procurement risks

- Experience handling imports/exports and coordination with customs (preferred)

- Strong leadership, planning, and stakeholder-management abilities

- High integrity, accountability, and decision-making capability
