
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced General Manager Projects to lead the complete end-to-end setup and construction of world-class laboratory facilities.
The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in laboratory infrastructure, specialized fit-outs, HVAC systems, cleanrooms, utility services, and regulatory compliance.
This role will oversee the entire project lifecyclefrom conceptual planning and design through execution, commissioning, validation, and final handover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the complete lifecycle of laboratory construction projects, including planning, design coordination, execution, commissioning, and project handover.
- Manage civil works, MEP services, HVAC systems, cleanrooms, laboratory utilities, gas distribution systems, and specialized laboratory fit-outs.
- Develop project schedules, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion within approved timelines.
- Review and coordinate laboratory layouts to maximize operational efficiency, workflow, and safety.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, including GLP, ISO, NABL, FDA, and other applicable guidelines.
- Collaborate with consultants, architects, engineers, and end users to deliver technically compliant laboratory infrastructure.
- Identify, evaluate, and appoint contractors, consultants, and specialized vendors.
- Lead techno-commercial evaluations, contract negotiations, and procurement activities.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost estimates.
- Lead cross-functional project teams, including engineering, procurement, construction, quality, safety, and commissioning personnel.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
- Oversee commissioning, validation, testing, and successful project handover.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong expertise in laboratory construction, specialized laboratory fit-outs, and turnkey project execution.
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC zoning, cleanroom systems, laboratory gas distribution, and laboratory safety ergonomics.
- Strong understanding of GLP, ISO, NABL, FDA, and other laboratory regulatory standards.
- Excellent project planning, scheduling, and execution capabilities.
- Strong commercial acumen with expertise in budgeting, procurement, contract management, and cost control.
- Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects in a fast-paced environment.
Educational Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Project Management, Construction Management, or Business Administration is an added advantage.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification is preferred.
