JOB DESCRIPTION:
Title : General Manager - Procurement & Vendor Management
Job Location : Hyderabad, Telangana
Reports to : COO / Director of Operations
ROLE PUROSE:
Lead the end-to-end procurement strategy and execution for ornamental indoor plants, landscaping materials, and related services across 10+ cities in India. This includes vendor management, contract grower development, subcontractor oversight, international sourcing & imports, and ensuring consistent cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery to meet Gamlaa's operational and growth objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Procurement Strategy & Cost Optimisation:
- Develop and execute a company-wide procurement strategy for plants, materials, and related services.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing to achieve target cost savings without compromising quality.
2. Vendor Development & Relationship Management:
- Build and manage a network of reliable contract growers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Conduct regular vendor performance evaluations based on quality, delivery timelines, and compliance.
3. Contract Grower & Subcontractor Oversight:
- Develop long-term contract grower partnerships to ensure supply reliability and plant health quality.
- Monitor subcontractor performance for logistics, installation, and maintenance-related procurement.
4. International Procurement & Imports:
- Identify and onboard overseas suppliers for premium plants, planters, and specialised materials.
- Manage end-to-end import processes - from sourcing and price negotiation to customs clearance.
5. Process Excellence & Compliance:
- Implement standardised procurement processes, vendor contracts, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with legal, tax, and environmental norms in all procurement activities.
6. Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Partner with operations, design, and finance teams to forecast demand and align procurement cycles.
- Support COO in supply chain planning and expansion projects.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:
Education: MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related field.
Experience:
- 8-12 years in procurement, supply chain, or vendor management - preferably in FMCG, food procession or Internet.
- Proven track record in managing multi-city procurement and building long-term vendor networks.
- Exposure to international sourcing/imports and contract farming/vendor development.
