Role summary:
The GM - Merchandiser is responsible for driving product growth and profitability through effective assortment planning, pricing, and promotional strategies. The role oversees the entire product lifecycle, ensures optimal inventory levels and merchandising execution, and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams. Using a data-driven approach, the incumbent analyzes sales data and market trends to support informed decision-making and achieve sales, margin, and customer satisfaction objectives.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the GM - Merchandiser include, but are not limited to, the following:
Product Strategy and Planning
- Develop and execute product strategies aligned with overall business goals and customer needs.
- Conduct market analysis and competitor benchmarking to identify growth opportunities.
- Define assortment strategies to maximize sales, profitability, and customer experience.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to align product strategies with promotional campaigns.
Assortment and Product Lifecycle Management
- Oversee product lifecycle management from new product introduction to phase-out.
- Ensure a balanced assortment across core, seasonal, and innovative product lines.
- Continuously review product performance and optimize the assortment mix.
Vendor Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Manage supplier performance, compliance, and quality standards.
- Work closely with vendors to ensure timely availability of products and adherence to specifications.
Promotions and Performance Monitoring
- Continuously assess customer needs and feedback to refine assortment and merchandising strategies.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to design and execute promotional plans.
- Track product performance against sales, margin, and profitability targets.
- Analyse the ROI of promotional activities and refine strategies accordingly.
Data Analytics and Insights
- Use sales data, market research, and customer insights to support decision-making.
- Identify gaps in assortment, pricing, and product performance, and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide regular performance reports and insights to stakeholders to support business decisions.
Required Profile
- Qualification: BE / MBA or equivalent qualification.
- Experience: 10-15 years of relevant experience, preferably in the jewellery industry.
- Strong analytical ability and business acumen.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Expertise in sales reporting, data analysis, and interpretation of market trends.
