Role Overview:
The General Manager for HR Industrial Relations and Compliance will serve as the strategic lead for all matters concerning labor governance, employee relations, and statutory adherence within the organization. Based in Gurugram, this role involves navigating complex regulatory landscapes to ensure the company remains compliant while fostering a harmonious and productive work environment. You will work closely with senior leadership, legal counsel, and external regulatory bodies to mitigate organizational risk, resolve complex employee grievances, and implement forward-thinking industrial relations strategies that align with the company's long-term business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and execute comprehensive Industrial Relations strategies to maintain a stable, compliant, and positive work environment across all operational units.
- Oversee end-to-end HR compliance frameworks, ensuring the organization adheres to all national and state-specific labor laws and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the planning and execution of statutory audits, liaising with internal and external auditors to ensure zero-non-compliance findings.
- Manage complex employee relations issues, including disciplinary proceedings, grievance redressal, and conflict resolution, to protect the company's interests while maintaining employee morale.
- Act as the primary point of contact for government labor authorities and legal bodies, representing the company in inspections, hearings, and regulatory filings.
- Develop and implement internal policies that reflect evolving labor legislations, providing training to HR teams and line managers to ensure consistent application of compliance standards.
- Monitor and analyze trends in labor law and industrial relations to proactively advise leadership on potential risks and strategic adjustments.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated expertise in navigating the complexities of Indian labor laws, including the Industrial Disputes Act, Factories Act, and various state-specific shops and establishments acts.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale statutory compliance programs and manage high-stakes industrial relations environments with a focus on risk mitigation.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and represent the company effectively before government officials.
- Strong analytical mindset to interpret legal statutes and translate them into actionable operational policies that support business continuity.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, professional environment in Gurugram, maintaining composure and professional judgment during high-pressure situations.
- A postgraduate degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a Law degree (LLB) is highly preferred, complemented by 16 - 20 years of progressive experience in managing large-scale HR compliance and IR functions.
