General Manager - Factory Operations

Description:

We are looking for an experienced General Manager Factory Operations with strong expertise in Plastic Preforms & Closures manufacturing. The role will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end factory operations, production planning, plant administration, manpower management, and ensuring operational excellence.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in managing machines, maintenance, production targets, and cross-functional coordination while driving efficiency, quality, and cost control.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee complete factory operations including production, maintenance, quality, and dispatch

- Manage day-to-day plant activities to ensure smooth manufacturing operations

- Drive operational efficiency and optimize plant performance

- Ensure adherence to production schedules and delivery timelines

- Monitor plant KPIs including productivity, efficiency, and downtime

- Plan and execute production schedules based on business requirements

- Ensure achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets

- Optimize machine utilization and reduce production losses

- Implement continuous improvement initiatives for productivity enhancement

- Monitor rejection levels and drive quality improvement initiatives

- Handle plant manpower planning, deployment, and productivity

- Supervise department heads and shop-floor teams

- Ensure proper shift planning and workforce allocation

- Manage plant administration and discipline on shop floor

- Drive performance management and team development

- Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance of machines

- Ensure minimum downtime and maximum equipment availability

- Coordinate with engineering team for plant improvements

- Implement TPM / preventive maintenance practices

- Ensure adherence to quality standards for Plastic Preforms & Closures

- Implement SOPs and process control measures

- Ensure compliance with safety, statutory, and regulatory requirements

- Drive 5S, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement practices

- Monitor production costs and reduce operational expenses

- Optimize raw material consumption and wastage

- Improve energy efficiency and machine productivity

- Implement cost-saving initiatives across plant operations

- Coordinate with supply chain, procurement, and logistics teams

- Prepare MIS reports for management review

- Track production metrics and operational performance

- Drive cross-functional collaboration for business objectives

Required Skills:

- Injection molding / PET preforms knowledge

- Lean manufacturing / 5S / TPM knowledge

- Cost control and operational efficiency

- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills

- 10-16 years of experience in plastic manufacturing industry

- Prior experience in PET preforms / closures manufacturing

- Experience in handling large plant operations

- Strong leadership and team management skills

- Willingness to work in international location (DR Congo)

- Engineering degree preferred (Mechanical / Plastics / Production)
