Role Overview
The Head of Design & Engineering will lead organisation engineering strategy across wind, solar, hybrid, and BESS projects. This role is responsible for driving technical excellence, ensuring high-quality designs, optimizing project performance, and supporting business growth through robust engineering solutions. The position will work closely with EPC, Project Management, Business Development, Supply Chain, and QA/QC teams to deliver bankable, compliant, and cost-effective renewable energy assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive engineering-led cost reduction initiatives.
- Define the engineering standards, and best practices for all renewable energy technologies.
- Guide multidisciplinary engineering teams (civil, electrical, mechanical, and design).
- Evaluate emerging technologies and integrate innovation into project design.
- Analyse layout designs, energy yield assessments, electrical SLDs, civil BOQs, and structural designs.
- Ensure design optimisation for cost, land use, materials, and performance.
- Ensure all engineering deliverables meet statutory requirements, industry codes, and project-specific standards.
- Coordinate with external consultants, OEMs, and certification bodies.
- Lead risk assessments, design validation, and technical due diligence.
- Support internal stakeholders with technical inputs for proposals, feasibility studies, and bid submissions.
- Work closely with the EPC team on constructability, quality, specifications, and project execution.
- Provide technical guidance to procurement for technical specifications, vendor evaluations, and FAT/SAT.
- Build and mentor a high-performing design and engineering team.
- Implement value engineering, design automation, and digital tools
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in electrical/civil engineering; Masters preferred.
- 1220 years of experience in design & engineering for renewable energy projects.
- Strong expertise in wind/solar layout planning, detailed design, electrical systems, and grid interconnection.
- Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Deep understanding of IS/IEC standards, CEA regulations, and utility/grid codes.
