General Manager - Design & Engineering - Solar

Role Overview:

We are seeking a visionary General Manager of Design & Engineering to lead our product development lifecycle at our Pune facility. In this strategic leadership role, you will oversee the end-to-end conceptualization and execution of complex engineering projects, bridging the gap between cutting-edge innovation and scalable manufacturing. You will work closely with cross-functional leadership, including product management, supply chain, and global stakeholders, to translate market needs into high-impact technical solutions. By fostering a culture of design excellence and technical rigor, you will directly influence our competitive positioning, ensuring that our product portfolio remains at the forefront of industry standards while delivering superior value to our end customers.

Key Responsibilities:

- Spearhead the end-to-end New Product Design process, from initial ideation to final production, to ensure our offerings meet evolving market demands and technical specifications.

- Drive a culture of Innovation by mentoring engineering teams to explore emerging technologies and design methodologies that differentiate our products from the competition.

- Collaborate with global stakeholders and internal business units to align engineering roadmaps with long-term commercial objectives and revenue targets.

- Oversee the optimization of design workflows and engineering processes to reduce time-to-market while maintaining the highest levels of quality and safety compliance.

- Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and talent development to build a high-performing team capable of tackling complex design challenges.

Required Skillset:

Atleast 15 years of experience in the solar industry, with at least 5 years in a team lead role overseeing the EHV design upto 220KV.

- Atleast two projects of 220KV.

Preferred:

- Experience in large scale solar projects for EHV design.

- Preffered to have worked on 400KV EHV designing.

Strong knowledge of EHV designing upto 220KV.

Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and regulatory standards in the solar industry

Vendor development and management skills, including technical evaluations and quality assurance

Effective collaboration and communication skills to work across cross-functional teams and stakeholders

Strategic vision for driving innovation, improving quality, and ensuring cost-effectiveness
