Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced General Manager/Deputy General Manager - Projects to lead end-to-end execution of high-value capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects from project planning and engineering through execution, commissioning, and final handover. The role will have a strong owner-side project management focus, requiring close coordination with EPC partners, PMC consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience managing large-scale industrial projects, reviewing multidisciplinary engineering deliverables, driving project controls, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and as per required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead end-to-end management of high-value CAPEX projects from conceptualization and planning through execution, commissioning, and handover.

- Manage projects from the owner's side, coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project-control activities.

- Develop and monitor project execution plans, schedules, milestones, budgets, resources, and key deliverables.

- Review and provide oversight on basic and detailed engineering designs across civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, process, and other relevant disciplines.

- Ensure engineering deliverables are aligned with project requirements, technical standards, constructability, cost, schedule, and operational objectives.

- Coordinate with EPC partners, PMC consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal project teams to ensure effective execution.

- Monitor project progress against approved schedules, budgets, scope, and quality requirements and drive corrective actions where required.

- Identify and proactively manage project risks, issues, dependencies, delays, and cost overruns.

- Review technical specifications, drawings, vendor documents, procurement requirements, construction plans, and commissioning activities.

- Ensure effective coordination between Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operations, Finance, Commercial, and other functions.

- Monitor contractor and EPC partner performance and ensure adherence to contractual, technical, quality, safety, and schedule commitments.

- Drive project governance through regular progress reviews, management reporting, dashboards, and project performance assessments.

- Review project cost, resource utilization, procurement progress, and overall CAPEX performance.

- Support resolution of technical and execution challenges and facilitate timely decision-making across stakeholders.

- Ensure adequate planning for commissioning, start-up, stabilization, and final project handover.

- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and provide regular project updates to senior management.

- Ensure projects comply with applicable engineering, safety, environmental, regulatory, and organizational standards.

- Drive continuous improvement in project execution, engineering coordination, contractor management, and project governance.

Required Skills & Experience:

- 15 - 20 years of experience in project management, project execution, engineering, or CAPEX project leadership.

- Strong experience managing high-value CAPEX and large-scale industrial projects.

- Proven owner-side project management experience with end-to-end project delivery responsibility.

- Strong experience coordinating with EPC contractors, PMC consultants, vendors, and construction contractors.

- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering and ability to review detailed engineering and design deliverables.

- Good understanding of process flows, plant engineering, project execution, construction, commissioning, and handover.

- Strong project planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and project governance capabilities.

- Experience managing project scope, timelines, budgets, resources, dependencies, and change management.

- Strong stakeholder management skills across internal teams, EPC partners, consultants, contractors, and senior leadership.

- Experience monitoring contractor performance, project progress, quality, and contractual commitments.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills.

- Ability to independently lead complex projects and manage multiple stakeholders in a high-pressure execution environment.

- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to report project status and risks to senior management.
