Key Responsibilities:
Commercial & Strategic Leadership:
- Lead the commercial strategy for in-house tool room operations.
- Manage costing, budgeting, financial planning, and investment forecasting for tooling.
- Drive commercial negotiations and financial accountability for tool room projects.
- Ensure alignment of tool room strategy with organizational goals and new product development initiatives.
Tool Room Operations Management:
- Oversee end-to-end mold development, including manufacturing, machining, tooling processes, and assembly.
- Ensure execution of projects with zero vendor dependency, focusing on high-quality mold production.
- Monitor progress, timelines, and quality standards to ensure operational excellence.
- Collaborate closely with design, production, and quality teams to support product development.
Process Improvement & Efficiency:
- Enhance productivity, operational efficiency, and tooling quality through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Implement standard operating procedures, best practices, and process discipline across the tool room.
- Optimize resources, manpower, and equipment utilization to control costs and improve output.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
- Provide strong leadership, mentoring, and direction to tool room teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, stability, and continuous improvement.
- Work cross-functionally with senior management, engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams.
Risk, Compliance & Reporting:
- Mitigate operational risks through effective planning and preventive action.
- Ensure compliance with organizational guidelines, safety standards, and audit requirements.
- Present tool room performance, budget updates, and commercial forecasts to senior leadership.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- 10+ years of overall experience, with significant leadership exposure in tool room operations, plastic mold manufacturing, or automotive tooling environments.
- Strong understanding of mold development, mold assembly, machining processes, and tooling life cycle.
- Proven track record in cost estimation, budgeting, and commercial planning.
- Experience working in an OEM or Tier-1 automotive company preferred.
- Demonstrated stability in previous roles.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of new product development processes.
- Hands-on exposure to tool room machinery, mold flow, and manufacturing technologies.
- Ability to drive cross-functional alignment and large-scale operational improvements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management capabilities.
