Position Title
General Manager - Civil Industrial Projects
1. Job Purpose
The General Manager - Civil Industrial Projects will be responsible for overall leadership, planning, execution, and commercial performance of large-scale civil and industrial construction projects. The role involves strategic oversight of project delivery, cost control, contract management, and client relationship management while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Strategic Project Leadership
- Provide overall strategic direction and leadership for civil and industrial construction projects.
- Ensure successful planning, execution, and delivery of projects in line with company objectives.
- Lead project teams to achieve schedule, cost, and quality targets.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required.
B. Project Execution & Operations
- Oversee end-to-end project lifecycle, including planning, design coordination, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, project specifications, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor and review project schedules, resource planning, and productivity.
C. Commercial & Financial Management
- Manage overall project budgets, cost control, and profitability (P&L responsibility).
- Review and approve project estimates, cost forecasts, and financial reports.
- Ensure effective cash flow management and cost optimization.
- Lead contract negotiations, variation claims, and dispute resolution.
D. Contract & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with international contract standards such as FIDIC and other contractual frameworks.
- Oversee contract administration, claims management, and variation orders.
- Identify potential project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Manage legal and contractual matters with clients and subcontractors.
E. Client & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and government authorities.
- Represent the company in project review meetings and commercial discussions.
- Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and repeat business opportunities.
F. Team Leadership & Organizational Development
- Lead and mentor project managers, engineers, and commercial teams.
- Build high-performing teams through training, performance management, and leadership development.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
G. Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with quality management systems and safety standards.
- Promote zero-incident safety culture across project sites.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies.
3. Qualification & Education
Preferred qualifications include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Master's Degree in Construction Management (preferred) / Project Management (preferred)
Professional certifications such as:
- PMP
