POSITION DETAILS:

Position General Manager - Civil

Location Head Office (Mumbai)

Department Projects Grade LM1

Reports To Head - Project Management and Engineering

Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Master's Degree in Construction Management. Experience: 15 years

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To provide strategic leadership and oversight of greenfield construction projects, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery in line with design specifications, regulatory requirements, and organisational objectives. The role will drive collaboration among internal and external stakeholders, mitigate risks, and implement innovative practices to enhance efficiency, safety, and sustainability, thereby strengthening long-term asset value and operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Lead and oversee end-to-end construction project lifecycle from planning through execution, ensuring adherence to design, codes, safety standards, and quality benchmarks.

- Develop project plans, including budgets, timelines, and resource allocation, with accountability for cost and schedule performance.

- Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors to ensure alignment of project goals and seamless execution.

- Monitor progress against milestones, proactively identify risks, and implement corrective measures, including catch-up plans to shore up timelines.

- Conduct regular site reviews to evaluate construction quality, safety compliance, and contractor performance.

- Drive effective conflict resolution and decision-making to address project challenges and stakeholder concerns.

- Present regular progress reports to senior management with updates on budgets, risks, and key achievements.

- Champion adoption of industry best practices, innovative technologies, and sustainable construction methods to optimise project delivery and long-term asset performance.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree - Civil Engineering or related field.

- Master's degree - Construction Management (preferred).

- Proficiency in drafting and modelling applications such as Autodesk Inventor, MS Project and AutoCAD

- Minimum 15 years in a professional engineering firm /Retail project developer

- Problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Communication and interpersonal skills.

- Project management skills, LEED AP is preferred
