Job Role:

Function: Head Legal & Corporate Affairs

Grade: General Manager/AVP

Reporting to: Unit Head

Location: Hisar

Experience: 2025 years

Job Purpose:

The primary role is to manage legal, liaison, and corporate affairs functions by building and maintaining strong relationships with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders for getting various licences, ensure timely approvals, regulatory compliances, uninterrupted operations, and effective litigation management with the objective of achieving minimal/zero litigation.

1) Stakeholder Management & Liaison:

- Build and maintain strong relationships with government departments, ministries, regulatory authorities, and local administration.

- Liaise with Power utilities, Pollution control boards, Irrigation departments, and Railway authorities for necessary approvals and services.

- Ensure timely renewal and amendment of licenses for Explosives Dept., DFSC, and Food & Drug Controller, Industries Dept of Haryana/ IEM, Statistical Dept of Haryana, Forest Dept, Town & Country Planning, Hisar & Director ULB, Panchkula.

- Ensure timely approvals, licenses, and sanctions for smooth plant operations.

- Coordinate visits of senior leadership to government offices and external institutions.

- Engage with industry associations, chambers, and external forums for organizational representation.

- Effective management of OP Jindal Gyan Kendra.

- Liaisoning with various Govt. Dept for JSL Super Steel Limited- UP Electricity Dept & UP PCB Fire Department, MC and UPSIDC. Restore Ghaziabad electricity - Obtain ground water permission - Settle house case of RSSL - Monitor Kolkata properties in court cases.

2) Legal & Litigation Management:

- Pursuance & monitoring of pending court cases. Handle filing, tracking, and resolution of court cases in coordination with advocates.

- Analyse legal cases and prepare documentation for effective representation.

- Develop strategies for early resolution and reduction of legal exposure.

- Monitor ongoing litigation and ensure timely updates to management.

- Aim to minimize new cases and achieve the objective of zero litigation.

3) Regulatory Compliance & Approvals:

- Ensure compliance with environmental laws and obtain necessary consents from Pollution Control Boards.

- Registration of New Land, Verification of Records titles, Demarcation of JSL Land, Mutations of JSL Land, Manage & updation of Land Record.

- Liaise for approvals related to power supply, including open access, peak load permissions, and billing adjustments.

- Coordinate approvals for water supply from irrigation authorities.

- Obtain permissions from railway authorities for infrastructure crossings (pipelines, cables, etc.).

- Ensure compliance with all statutory conditions attached to approvals.

4) Policy Advocacy & Intelligence:

- Track and monitor regulatory and policy developments impacting the organization.

- Provide timely updates and early alerts on policy changes to internal stakeholders.

- Support preparation of representations, submissions, and policy documents.

- Maintain active engagement with policy-making bodies and industry forums.

5) Database Management:

- Maintain updated records of Govt. officials, departments, and regulatory bodies.

- Track key contacts, approvals and Compliance documentation.

- Proper documentation and maintenance of land records for JSHL, Hisar.

- Maintain records of court cases, approvals, and liaison activities.

- Develop and update databases related to policy, regulatory, and stakeholder interactions.

6) Internal Coordination & Team Management:

- Coordinate with internal departments (Electrical, Environment, Administration, etc.) for inputs and execution.

- Monitor and guide team members (DGM/AGM/SM) for timely completion of tasks.

- Ensure effective follow-up and closure of assignments with government departments.

- Improve internal processes for faster decision-making and execution.

Knowledge Skill Set:

- Strong understanding of government systems, regulatory frameworks, and legal procedures.

- Expertise in liaisoning with government and regulatory authorities.

- Knowledge of environmental laws, power regulations, and infrastructure approvals.

- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

- Ability to handle litigation and coordinate with legal counsel effectively.

- Proficiency in documentation, drafting, and MS Office tools.

- Awareness of policy and regulatory developments.

Academic Qualification:

- Graduate or PG in Law / Public Policy / Political Science / Economics / MBA (Law preferred).

Behavioural Skills:

- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

- High integrity and professionalism, ability to work under pressure.

- Proactive and result-oriented approach.

- Discretion in handling confidential and sensitive matters.
