Job Role:
- General Manager is the head of finance function in the organisation and is tasked with the overall responsibility of managing the finances of the organisation and being responsible for financial Compliance.
- He or she is tasked with setting up systems, Process to make available funds for different functions as per plans agreed and the same is monitored and reported to the Leadership for course correction and for meeting P&L and other financial Goals.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Financial Planning & Execution
- Ensure process and systems are put in place to create the annual Financial plan with inputs from Market place, other departments & GMPL directors and the same is rolled out to address the financial needs of the organization and provide clarity to stake holders in terms of budget available for their respective departments and conditions for its entitlement needs of the organization and provide clarity to stake holders in terms of budget available for their respective departments and conditions for its entitlement.
- Provide support to GMPL directors to draw up GMPL Goals, keeping in mind financial impact and maintain the balance between calculated risk taking and continuing to be in the comfort Zone.
- Initiate financial strategies to ensure that funds are available for GMPL's day to day needs and grow that optimum costs and when needed that optimum costs and when needed reserved Put systems and Process in place to ensure all stakeholders ensure that they are with in budgets.
2. Financial Administration
- Put systems and Process in place to ensure all stakeholders ensure that they are with in budgets and contingency plans are rolled out for those who fall short of their budget targets.
- Provide needed information to GMPL directors and other functional heads to keep them informed on a weekly basis on how they are doing against their overall financial and Business goals
- Educate all stakeholders on financial dynamics and how they can manage their functional or individual budgets to get the best out of every rupee spent
- Ensure that the financial function is within its allotted budgets
- Monitor Sales, Admin. & General Costs and ensure through corrective measures that these are with in single digits
- Leverage emerging Technologies to make GMPL finance function a Benchmark
3. Financial Controls - Put systems and process for Financial controls across GMPL that arrests misappropriations of funds ,fraud, loss of revenue, non-conformance costs, Losses and commitments or promises that can hurt GMPL's wellbeing.
- Initiate internal review and audit Process to ensure any gaps in financial controls and incidence mentioned above, (if any) are quickly unearthed and acted on.
- Get to the root cause of financial related gaps or incidence of loss through fraud misappropriation etc. and take corrective action to ensure that there is no repeat of the same incidence
4. Financial Accounting: - Process and systems are put in place to track, record and report income, expenditure, Investments, Taxes, Penalties, losses Profits etc.
- Maintain needed books of accounts to record and report to all stakeholders' details of financial dealings of GMPL
- Define financial authorization matrix and ensure payments are made as per the matrix and on meeting the norms laid down for making any payment.
5. Invoicing & Collection - Ensure Process & Systems are in place to invoice services rendered by GMPL along with required taxes as per laid down norms or Contract clauses and the same is delivered to customer.
- Payments against invoices or advances as per contract terms are collected, banked and reported.
- Ensure that process is in place for age debts and the same are collected as per GMPL standards.
- Ensure that GST is charged on products sold and Services rendered and the same is paid to the authorities as per laid down Government norms
6. Treasury - Maintain great relationship with all GMPL Bankers, Investors, and VCs to get needed funding and best available deals for GMPL.
- Advice GMPL Directors on funding needs, the right source for funding and assist them to finalize best funding arrangements
- Advice GMPL directors on investment of excess money or unused assets in GMPL and support them to take needed actions in this area
7. Compliance - Ensure process and systems are in place for all legal compliance and needed compliance audits and reviews are carried out to ensure that GMPL is 100% complaint and there are no surprises.
- Advice GMPL directors on Compliance issue if any and connect them with Subject Matter Experts to take professional advice and deal with it.
- Be the face of GMPL to deal with different officials in Government departments related to financial compliance issues Take Leadership in arranging for required audits as per law on books of accounts and filing of necessary returns and documents with Government authorities.
8. Risk Mitigation - Ensure systems and process are in place to safe guard GMPL Assets, IT Systems and Bank accounts and overall GMPL reputation.
- Ensure a process is in place to approve GMPL financial transactions and contracts before the same is signed off to ensure best interests of GMPL and safe guard against future losses Put in place checks and balances to ensure zero penalties on GMPL by Customers, Vendors, or Govt. authorities.
9. People & Process - Benchmark within the industry and outside the industry to bring in Best practices into GMPL to deliver world class services to internal & external Customers
- Create an open and inclusive environment in the Finance function for employees to do their jobs without fear and express freely their thoughts and ideas
- Work with HR team to ensure that Finance function is staffed with the right skills to achieve the Business Goals
