Role Description:
- This critical role involves conducting deep financial investigations and integrity checks on potential and existing portfolio companies to validate reported financial metrics, operational claims, and overall financial health. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional analytical skills, an investigative mindset, and a meticulous approach to financial data.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed forensic financial due diligence on prospective and existing portfolio companies, including review of historical financial statements, management accounts, and supporting schedules.
- Validate reported revenue, EBITDA, cash flows, working capital, and key financial KPIs to assess accuracy and sustainability of performance.
- Identify and investigate financial irregularities, red flags, aggressive accounting practices, misstatements, or potential fraud risks.
- Perform quality of earnings (QoE) analysis, normalization adjustments, and assessment of one-off or non-recurring items.
- Review related party transactions, inter-company arrangements, promoter dealings, and potential conflicts of interest.
- Analyze cash flow movements, fund utilization, debt structures, and contingent liabilities to assess financial integrity and risk exposure.
- Evaluate internal controls, accounting policies, and financial governance frameworks of target companies.
- Corroborate financial data with operational metrics, contracts, bank statements, tax filings, and third-party confirmations.
- Assist the investment team by providing risk assessments and forensic insights to support investment decisions, valuations, and deal structuring.
- Prepare clear, concise due diligence and forensic reports highlighting key findings, risks, and recommendations for the Investment Committee.
- Coordinate with external auditors, legal advisors, and consultants during due diligence and post-investment reviews.
- Support post-investment monitoring, including periodic forensic reviews, compliance checks, and early warning indicators.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes, accounting standards, and forensic investigation best practices relevant to private equity and growth investments.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Professional Certification: Chartered Accountant (CA)
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in forensic accounting, financial due diligence, or audit, preferably within a Big Four firm or a major financial institution.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of accounting standards, auditing principles, and forensic investigation techniques.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional ability to analyze large, complex datasets to detect patterns and anomalies.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills to present complex financial findings clearly.
