D. Job Summary:
The Head - Business Excellence & Governance will build and lead a global Business Excellence function focused on strengthening internal controls, reinforcing process discipline, ensuring ESG and statutory compliance, and enabling predictable, scalable execution across geographies.
This role will work closely with leadership to ensure governance frameworks effectively support business execution, growth, and risk management, while maintaining operational agility.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Transformation & Operational Excellence
- Transform operational effectiveness across HR, Supply Chain, Projects, and Finance functions
- Challenge adherence to best practices and identify process inefficiencies
- Evaluate technology ROI and lead system optimization initiatives (HRMS utilization, ERP adoption, project management tools)
- Benchmark processes against industry standards and implement transformational improvements
- Build continuous improvement culture where teams proactively identify and solve inefficiencies
- Partner with function heads as a trusted advisor on operational strategy and execution
2. Enterprise Risk Management & Control Frameworks
- Design and implement risk-based control frameworks that are proportional to our growth stage
- Identify and mitigate operational, financial, regulatory, and execution risks across geographies
- Build scalable control mechanisms that balance rigor with operational agility
- Ensure ESG and statutory compliance through practical, business-relevant guidance
- Implement real-time monitoring systems (dashboards, automated alerts, exception tracking)
- Develop standardized operating procedures that teams can actually follow
- Ensure readiness for external reviews and regulatory assessments
- Partner with Operations, Finance, HR, and Supply Chain to embed controls into day-to-day execution
- Key principle: Controls should enable business, not slow it down.
3. Leadership Enablement & Strategic Insights
- Build executive dashboards covering operational metrics, risk indicators, compliance status, and process maturity
- Provide actionable insights to leadership on execution effectiveness and risk exposure
- Act as trusted advisor to function heads on operational strategy and process design
- Lead governance reviews with senior management focused on business impact
- Interface with external stakeholders (advisors, investors, regulatory bodies) as needed
- Drive decision-making through structured analysis of operational and risk data
Ideal Candidate Profile
- MBA from a Tier-1 institute (IIMs/ISB preferred)
- 10-15 years of relevant experience in management consulting, internal controls, business excellence, or governance roles
- Exposure to project-based, infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, or execution-driven businesses preferred
- Strong understanding of operational and financial controls in scaled organisations
- High maturity with strong cross-functional and stakeholder management skills
- Comfortable operating independently at a senior leadership level
