D. Role Overview
The Business Development Head - Events will own revenue generation from events by driving sales via lead generation through events, delegate partnerships, key accounts acquisition, and strategic alliances. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on deal closure and team leadership to consistently deliver revenue targets across the events portfolio.
E. Key Responsibilities-
1. Revenue & Growth
- Own and deliver event revenue targets across all verticals in India by generating leads from sponsored as well as hosted events
- Build and execute a structured sales strategy for each event and the annual event calendar.
- Drive high-value key accounts and enterprise partnerships through direct outreach and strategic selling.
2. Client Acquisition & Account Management
- Identify, engage, and close new leads through events attended, sponsored, and hosted by Flipspaces
- Manage and grow key accounts through upselling, repeat and referral, and long-term partnerships.
- Build strong CXO-level relationships with decision-makers across industries.
3. Sales Strategy & Pipeline Management
- Create and monitor a strong sales pipeline using CRM and defined sales processes.
- Track lead movement from prospecting to closure with weekly reporting and forecasts.
- Develop pricing, packaging, and value propositions for sponsorships and partnerships.
4. Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and performance-manage BD managers and executives.
- Set targets, review performance, conduct pipeline reviews, and coach on closures.
- Drive a culture of accountability, follow-ups, and disciplined execution.
5. Market Intelligence & Positioning
- Track market trends, competitor offerings, and pricing benchmarks.
- Provide inputs into event themes, speaker line-ups, and audience strategy to enhance sponsor value.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with marketing, event operations, and content teams to ensure sponsor deliverables are met.
- Ensure seamless handover from sales to execution with clear scopes and timelines.
7. Event Presence
- Represent the company at events, industry forums, and networking platforms.
- Support on-ground sponsor engagement and relationship building during events.
F. Key Skills & Competencies-
- Strong B2B sales and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to close large sponsorship and partnership deals.
- Strategic thinking with strong execution discipline.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Data-driven mindset with CRM and reporting expertise.
G. Experience & Qualifications-
- 5-8 years of experience in B2B business development, sponsorship sales, or partnerships.
- Prior experience in events, conferences, exhibitions, or media sales preferred.
- Experience leading and scaling BD teams.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
