Role Overview:

FIRSTavenue is seeking to hire an experienced research professional to establish and lead its Global Alternative Investment Research function from the India office. The role will be responsible for producing high-quality market intelligence and thought leadership across private markets while supporting the firm's global origination, fundraising and advisory activities.

The successful candidate will combine strong analytical capability, exceptional writing skills and commercial awareness, leveraging data, technology and AI to produce differentiated research for both internal and external audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

- Establish and develop FIRSTavenue's Alternative Investment Research function, building a scalable platform supporting the firm's global business.

- Produce regular market commentary covering private equity, private credit, infrastructure, real estate, venture capital, secondaries and broader private markets.

- Prepare high-quality white papers, thematic research reports and institutional publications on fundraising trends, investor sentiment, market activity and emerging investment themes.

- Develop internal research products, including weekly market updates, GP and LP activity summaries, fundraising intelligence and regulatory developments to support origination and distribution teams globally.

- Conduct commercial due diligence and strategic assessments of prospective fund managers, including investment strategy, track record, competitive positioning and investor suitability.

- Support business development through market mapping, sector analysis, competitive intelligence and identification of prospective GP opportunities.

- Partner closely with senior management and global advisory, distribution and origination teams to identify commercially relevant research themes and client opportunities.

- Leverage AI and emerging technologies to improve research workflows, data collection and content generation.

- Over time, recruit, mentor and develop a high-performing global research team.

Qualifications and Characteristics:

- 10+ years of relevant experience in alternative investments research, investment strategy, investment consulting, private equity, private credit, investment banking or related fields.

- Strong knowledge of private markets across private equity, private credit, infrastructure, real estate, venture capital and secondaries.

- Demonstrated experience producing institutional-quality research, market commentary, white papers or investment publications.

- Exceptional writing, editing and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex investment topics clearly and concisely.

- Commercial mindset with the ability to generate actionable market intelligence and support fundraising and origination efforts.

- Experience using research platforms such as PitchBook, Preqin, MSCI/Burgiss, Bloomberg, Capital IQ or similar preferred.

- Strong analytical, financial modelling and data interpretation skills.

- Experience leveraging AI tools for research, content creation and workflow automation would be an advantage.

- Entrepreneurial, intellectually curious and comfortable building a function from the ground up.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across global teams.
