Financial Modelling Expert - AI Startup

About the Role:

Our client, a Y Combinator-backed AI startup, is hiring a Financial Modelling Expert to build and review sophisticated financial models that help train next-generation AI systems for finance applications. The role will involve creating complex Excel models across multiple finance domains while working alongside experts from investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, risk, and quantitative finance.

Responsibilities:

- Build financial models from scratch across a range of finance use cases in excel.

- Review and improve models built by other finance experts.

- Create realistic finance scenarios, assumptions, and supporting source materials.

- Build detailed revenue, cost, working capital, capital expenditure, debt, covenant, valuation, and scenario schedules.

- Work with messy or incomplete information and turn it into a clear analytical structure.

- Identify weak assumptions, broken logic, missing schedules, and oversimplified analysis.

- Explain modeling choices clearly and defend the logic behind your work.

Eligibility:

- 2-8+ years of relevant finance experience.

- Experience in private credit, credit, real estate finance, private equity, debt capital markets, risk, asset-based lending, asset-backed securities, quantitative finance, corporate finance, financial planning and analysis, investment banking, valuation, or similar (expertise in one or more particular areas is required).

- Strong ability to build models from scratch.

- Advanced Excel modeling skills.

- Strong understanding of accounting, cash flow, valuation, leverage, liquidity, and capital structure.

- Ability to work independently with ambiguous problems.

- Strong attention to detail.

- Clear written and verbal English.
