Financial Controller Defence Industry - Noida


Job Purpose:

The Financial Controller will play a critical leadership role in managing the financial operations of the organization within the defence industry. This position is responsible for financial control, statutory and management reporting, contract and project finance, government tenders, and supporting mergers and acquisitions. The role requires strong technical accounting expertise, commercial acumen, and experience operating in highly regulated, government-facing environments.


Key Responsibilities:


Financial Control & Reporting

- Lead all financial control activities, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with

IFRS/local GAAP.

- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing clear financial insights to senior management.

- Oversee audits and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and regulators.


Contract Finance & Project Accounting

- Manage financial aspects of complex defence contracts, including cost tracking, revenue recognition, margin analysis, and contract profitability.

- Ensure compliance with contract terms, pricing structures, and government cost principles.

- Monitor long-term project performance, cash flow, and risk exposure.


Government Tenders & Compliance

- Provide financial input and support for government tenders, bids, and proposals.

- Ensure tender pricing is accurate, competitive, and compliant with government procurement rules and defence regulations.

- Support contract negotiations from a financial and commercial perspective.


Mergers & Acquisitions

- Support M&A activities including financial due diligence, valuation analysis, and integration planning.

- Assist with post-merger financial integration, systems alignment, and reporting harmonization.

- Work closely with legal, tax, and external advisors throughout the transaction lifecycle.


Governance, Risk & Controls

- Develop and maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and procedures.

- Ensure compliance with defence industry regulations, security requirements, and government reporting obligations.

- Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.


Leadership & Stakeholder Management

- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, promoting high performance and accountability.

- Partner with operational, commercial, and program teams to support strategic decision-making.

- Communicate financial results and insights clearly to senior leadership and non-finance stakeholders.


Key Requirements:


Experience:

- Proven experience as a Financial Controller, preferably within the defence, aerospace, or government contracting sectors.

- Strong background in mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence and integration.

- Demonstrated experience supporting government tenders and working with public sector clients.

- Solid expertise in financial reporting, contract finance, and project-based accounting.


Qualifications:

- Qualified accountant (CPA, CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).

- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Masters preferred).


Skills & Competencies:

- In-depth knowledge of accounting standards, contract accounting, and compliance requirements.

- Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.

- High attention to detail with the ability to operate in a highly regulated environment.

- Experience with ERP systems and advanced financial reporting tools.
