Role Overview :
Our partner organization is seeking a high-caliber finance professional to play a pivotal role in strengthening financial governance, enabling business strategy, and driving operational excellence.
This role extends beyond traditional controllership and requires the individual to act as a trusted advisor to leadership-ensuring financial discipline while supporting organizational growth, expansion, and long-term value creation.
Key Responsibilities :
Financial Management & Controllership :
- Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Strengthen internal controls, accounting processes, and statutory compliance across applicable regulations (GST, TDS, Income Tax, Companies Act, etc.
- Manage treasury operations, including cash flow forecasting, fund management, and working capital optimization.
- Oversee Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Fixed Asset Management processes.
Budgeting & Forecasting :
- Drive the annual budgeting process in partnership with business and functional teams.
- Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts, identify variances, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making and expansion plans.
Compliance & Audit :
- Coordinate and manage statutory, internal, and tax audits, ensuring timely completion and closure.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and statutory requirements across geographies of operation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain finance policies aligned with corporate governance standards.
Business Partnering :
- Partner with senior leadership to drive profitability improvement, cost optimization, and sustainable growth initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including Operations, Sales, HR, and Program teams-to align financial and organizational objectives.
- Provide data-driven insights and financial analysis to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management :
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, establishing clear ownership, review mechanisms, and performance expectations.
- Build and manage relationships with auditors, tax consultants, banking partners, investors, and other external stakeholders.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence within the finance function.
Qualifications & Experience :
- Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, or an equivalent professional qualification.
- 6-10 years of post-qualification experience, preferably within startups, education, EdTech, social impact, or mission-driven organizations.
- Strong experience in financial controllership, taxation, audit management, financial reporting, and MIS.
- Good understanding of FCRA regulations and NGO finance/compliance frameworks.
- Prior experience with a Big 4 or consulting firm will be an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies :
- Strong grounding in accounting principles, finance operations, taxation, and statutory compliance.
- Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, variance analysis, and management reporting.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Tally ERP) and advanced MS Office capabilities.
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy, governance, and timeliness.
- Excellent analytical, stakeholder management, communication, and team leadership skills.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a dynamic environment.
