Financial Controller - Higher Education & EdTech

Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra

Qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA) - Mandatory

Experience: ~15 to 20 years post qualification

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced finance leader to head the finance and accounting function for a fast growing Higher Education & EdTech organisation. The role will oversee financial reporting, controllership, budgeting, treasury, taxation, compliance, business partnering, and governance across multiple business lines.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing and reporting.

- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

- Oversee accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, fixed assets, revenue recognition, and payroll.

- Drive budgeting, forecasting, and long range planning.

- Monitor enrolments, revenue realisation, collections, and operating margins.

- Manage fee collections, receivables, refunds, and working capital.

- Strengthen governance, internal controls, and audit processes.

- Lead treasury operations, cash flow planning, and banking relationships.

- Drive ERP implementation, digitisation, and finance transformation initiatives.

- Build and mentor a high performing finance team.

Preferred Attributes

- Experience in multi location education or EdTech organisations.

- Exposure to start up or high growth environments.

- Familiarity with online learning, vocational training, skilling programmes, or hybrid education models.

- Strong track record of team leadership, financial discipline, and business partnering.

- Experience engaging with boards, investors, auditors, and regulators.
