Job Description: Assistant Finance Manager
Reports To: Finance Controller
Role Overview:
We are looking for an Assistant Finance Manager with strong experience in trading businesses. The ideal candidate should have hands-on exposure to GST compliance, financial reporting, and FP&A support. The role requires someone who is detail-oriented, commercially aware, and capable of working closely with business teams to support financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and review general ledger balances.
- Support statutory audits and coordinate with external auditors.
GST & Direct Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and review GST returns.
- Reconcile GST input tax credits and ensure compliance with GST regulations.
- Coordinate with tax consultants on assessments and notices.
- Support TDS compliance and other statutory filings.
Trading Business Accounting:
- Manage accounting for domestic and import trading transactions.
- Review inventory valuation and stock reconciliations.
- Work closely with procurement, logistics, and sales teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
FP&A Support:
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Prepare monthly management reports and financial dashboards.
- Analyse revenue, gross margins, operating expenses, and working capital.
- Support variance analysis against budgets and prior periods.
- Provide financial analysis to support business decisions and strategic initiatives.
Treasury & Working Capital:
- Monitor receivables, payables, and cash flow.
- Assist in preparing cash flow forecasts.
- Support banking activities and working capital management.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and internal controls.
- Support ERP implementation or system enhancement initiatives.
- Prepare and maintain SOPs for finance processes.
Qualifications:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred. Candidates with CMA or MBA (Finance) and relevant experience may also be considered.
- 58 years of relevant finance and accounting experience.
- Prior experience in a trading or distribution company is essential.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards and GST.
- Experience in FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
- Good understanding of inventory accounting and trading operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced level).
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Experience:
- Exposure to multi-entity or multinational business environments.
- Experience preparing MIS reports for senior management.
