Role overview:

The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day finance operations, driving budgeting and forecasting, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and partnering with business teams to support strategic decision-making.

The role combines hands-on ownership of accounts and controls with business partnering to improve profitability and cash flows.

Key responsibilities:

- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing, ensuring accurate books, reconciliations, and compliance with applicable accounting standards.

- Prepare and review financial statements, MIS, and dashboards, highlighting key trends, variances, and business insights.

- Own budgeting and forecasting processes, including annual operating plan, rolling forecasts, and scenario analysis.

- Track budget vs actuals, perform variance analysis, and work with functional heads to drive cost discipline and margin improvement.

- Manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury activities, including payables, receivables, and liquidity planning.

- Establish and strengthen internal controls, documentation, and SOPs across finance processes.

- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and consultants to ensure timely completion of audits, filings, and statutory compliances.

- Oversee payroll inputs from a finance perspective and ensure accuracy of employee-related provisions and reimbursements.

- Evaluate business cases, new initiatives, pricing, and contracts from a financial viability and ROI standpoint.

- Implement and optimize finance tools/ERPs, and improve automation and reporting efficiency.

- Build and mentor a small finance team; ensure strong review mechanisms, training, and clear ownership.

Qualifications and experience:

- Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent professional qualification; MBA in Finance is an added advantage.

- 5+ years of total experience in finance and accounting, with at least 23 years in a managerial or lead role in startup.

- Strong exposure to management reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis; experience in a startup / high-growth environment is preferred.

- Solid understanding of Indian accounting standards, direct and indirect taxes, and regulatory compliances relevant to the business.

- Hands-on experience with accounting software Zohobooks and advanced Excel/Sheets skills.
