About the role:

- Position: Finance Controller

- Location: Hyderabad, Telangana (base location)

- Reporting To: Managing Director / Promoters

- Function: Finance, Accounting, Internal Controls & Treasury

- Industry: Slimming, Wellness & Aesthetic Clinic Services

- Revenue: ~400 Cr

The client is building a professionally governed finance function to support its next phase of growth and a targeted IPO within the next 2 - 3 years. They are looking for a Finance Controller based in Hyderabad whose core mandate is to bring structure and discipline to the finance function: standardizing accounting, building strict internal controls, and designing the processes and systems the company currently lacks. This is fundamentally a process and controls building role - someone who can take a growing, multi-location business and put in place the accounting rigor, control environment, and reporting discipline expected of an institutional, listing-ready company.

Key Responsibilities:

- Process & Systems Design: Design and document standard operating procedures for the entire finance function - accounting close, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, treasury, and expense management.

- Build a proper chart of accounts, accounting manual, and delegation-of-authority framework, and drive consistent adoption across the organization.

- Own end-to-end process ownership: identify gaps in current workflows, redesign them, and institutionalize them so outcomes no longer depend on individual effort.

- Select, implement, and/or optimize accounting and ERP systems to support standardized, auditable processes at scale.

- Drive a zero-tolerance culture on financial discipline: documented SOPs, surprise audits, and escalation protocols for control lapses across branches.

- Partner with operations and regional teams to close the gap between field-level financial behaviour and centralized MIS/reporting.

- Standard Accounting & Financial Reporting: Own timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes in line with Ind-AS and standard accounting practice.

- Ensure accurate books of accounts, reconciliations, and reporting across all entities and cost centres.

- Lead statutory and internal audits; ensure clean, on-time closure of audit observations.

- Deliver reliable MIS, budgeting, and variance analysis to management and the board.

- Internal Controls: Design and enforce a strict internal control framework across accounting, cash management, procurement, and expense approvals.

- Establish internal financial controls (IFC) aligned with the Companies Act and standards expected of a listed entity.

- Set up a structured internal audit function with clear escalation protocols for control gaps or exceptions.

- Periodically visit branches/locations as part of the control-assurance process, to validate that processes designed at the corporate level are actually being followed on the ground.

- Treasury & Corporate Finance: Manage corporate treasury: working capital, banking relationships, debt/credit facilities, and cash flow planning.

- Deliver monthly/quarterly MIS with branch-level and cohort-level KPIs (revenue per sq. ft., footfall conversion, package realization, franchise profitability).

- Own store/clinic-level unit economics - store P&L, break-even, rentals and occupancy cost, staffing cost, consumables, and new-store payback - and use them to guide expansion and closure decisions.

- Own budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet) for the business.

- Ensure statutory compliance - direct/indirect tax, RoC filings, labour law, and other regulatory obligations.

- IPO Readiness: Own the finance workstream of the company's IPO-readiness roadmap, targeted for execution within the next 2 - 3 years.

- Build IPO-grade financial reporting, governance, and disclosure practices well ahead of the listing process.

- Coordinate with merchant bankers, legal counsel, and statutory auditors as the process advances.

- Team & Stakeholder Leadership: Build and lead a finance team covering accounting, FP&A, treasury, and internal audit.

- Act as a key advisor to the MD/promoter on financial discipline, capital allocation, and risk.

- Represent the company with banks, auditors, and regulatory authorities.

Candidate Profile:

- CA with 12 - 20+ years of progressive finance leadership experience in financial reporting/financial controllership.

- Proven track record of building or overhauling accounting processes, SOPs, and internal control frameworks from the ground up.

- Strong grounding in standard accounting practice, Ind-AS, and statutory/regulatory compliance.

- Retail experience is important: a strong understanding of store economics and how a store operates day to day (store P&L, footfall and conversion, inventory, cash handling, rentals and staffing costs), ideally from a multi-location retail, QSR or consumer services business.

- High personal integrity and a demonstrated bias for structure, discipline, and process over ad-hoc, informal ways of working.

- Based in, or willing to relocate to, Hyderabad.
