Job Summary
- The Financial Controller is a senior executive responsible for the entire financial health, statutory compliance, and reporting integrity.
- The ideal candidate is a seasoned Chartered Accountant (CA) with 10-12 years of progressive experience in the financial services domain, demonstrating deep expertise in RBI regulatory reporting, IFRS/Ind AS accounting standards, and the critical financial control aspects of managing a large loan book and diverse funding sources.
- This role is a key strategic partner to the CFO, ensuring financial processes mitigate credit risk and maximize operational efficiency while adhering to the rigorous Scale-Based Regulation (SBR) framework.
Key Responsibilities
1. Statutory, Regulatory Reporting & Technical Accounting
- Lead the preparation and finalization of financial statements in compliance with Ind AS/IFRS and company law.
- Mandatory: Oversee and ensure timely, accurate submission of all RBI regulatory returns (e.g., ALM, liquidity, quarterly/annual returns) and compliance with the latest RBI guidelines.
- Act as the internal technical accounting expert, advising on complex issues specific to NBFCs, such as:
a. Loan origination cost capitalization and amortization.
b. Expected Credit Loss (ECL) provisioning under Ind AS 109/IFRS 9.
c. Securitization and direct assignment accounting treatment.
- Manage the relationship and deliverables for external/statutory audits and regulatory inspections.
2. Treasury, ALM, and Funding Management
- Direct the Asset-Liability Management (ALM) function, monitoring and mitigating liquidity and interest rate risks arising from the mismatch in assets (loans) and liabilities (borrowings).
- Optimize the Cost of Funds (COF) by managing borrowings from diverse sources (Banks, NCDs, Commercial Paper, FDs/Term Money) and ensuring compliance with all debt covenants and security requirements.
- Lead cash flow forecasting and develop strategies to maximize returns on liquid investments while maintaining the required liquidity buffers.
- Manage and report on complex equity transactions (capital raises, share-based compensation, etc.).
3. Financial Analysis & Credit Risk Control
- Oversee the Asset Quality reporting, providing detailed analysis of GNPA, NNPA, and Provisioning Coverage Ratios (PCRs) to the management and the Board.
- Develop robust financial models for budgeting, forecasting, and stress testing the loan book under various economic scenarios.
- Provide detailed financial analysis on the profitability of different loan segments (e.g., Housing, Gold, Vehicle, Microfinance) and branch-level performance.
- Ensure the integrity of the loan portfolio data used for risk modeling and regulatory calculations.
4. Financial Systems, Controls, and Team Leadership
- Lead the accounting and finance team, fostering a culture of high compliance and accuracy.
- Champion the implementation or upgrade of core banking and accounting systems (e.g., ERP, Loan Management Systems) to enhance automation and scalability.
- Design, document, and monitor stringent internal financial controls specific to lending and collection processes.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education and Certification
- Mandatory: Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance is standard.
Experience
- Required: 10-12 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management roles.
- Direct, non-negotiable experience within an NBFC, Housing Finance Company (HFC), or Commercial Bank is essential.
- Proven track record in managing RBI compliance and reporting for large or Systemically Important NBFCs (NBFC-SI).
- Experience in Ind AS 109/IFRS 9 implementation and reporting is highly preferred.

- Strong competency in Asset-Liability Management (ALM) principles and funding strategies.
