Qualification:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting & Consolidation:

- Lead the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and Management Information Systems (MIS) for India, UK, and US entities, including detailed variance analysis against budget and forecasts.

- Perform group-level financial consolidation under IFRS / US GAAP as applicable.

- Ensure the accuracy of multi-currency reporting, intercompany reconciliations, and elimination entries.

- Manage day-to-day finance operations, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), revenue recognition, reconciliations, and monthly close processes.

- Collaborate closely with local finance teams to validate numbers and reporting packs across geographies.

2. Financial Control & Governance:

- Own controllership, internal controls, and Sox-style checks suited for a tech-first, regulated environment. design and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies across all geographies.

- Develop and strengthen internal controls, overseeing accounting policies aligned with IFRS/GAAP and insurance-specific standards.

- Ensure proper revenue recognition, claim provisioning, reserving, and coordination with actuarial teams.

- Maintain robust controls over payments, treasury management, and expense approvals.

3. Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning:

- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and working capital management in partnership with business and product teams.

- Drive the annual budgeting exercise for multiple business units and prepare comprehensive financial forecasts, variance analysis, and performance dashboards.

- Support management with financial modelling, profitability analysis (product-wise/region-wise), and strategic insights.

4. Taxation & Cross-Border Considerations:

- Ensure full statutory and regulatory compliance, including Companies Act, GST, TDS,VAT,SLT, Corporate Tax, audits, and other applicable insurtech/financial-regulatory requirements in India, in coordination with consultants.

- Overview direct and indirect tax compliance for India and ensure correct tax treatment for insurance transactions, commissions, claims, and investment income across all jurisdictions (India, UK, US).

5. Audit & Assurance:

- Lead external audits across India, UK, and US entities, both on a standalone and consolidated basis.

- Manage statutory auditors, internal auditors, and regulatory inspections.

- Ensure the timely closure of audit queries and effective implementation of audit recommendations.

6. Cash Flow, Treasury & Investment Oversight:

- Monitor cash flow across geographies, optimize working capital, and manage foreign exchange (FX) exposures.

- Support investment compliance and investment accounting for insurance portfolios.

- Coordinate with banks and financial institutions for treasury operations.

- Support the CFO in board/investor reporting, fundraising due diligence, and managing data rooms for current or future equity/debt rounds.

7. Automation & Team Management:

- Drive automation of finance functions using ERP/accounting systems, payout and claims tools, and integrations with core insurance/Insurtech platforms.

- Manage and mentor a small finance and accounts team; foster a strong performance and control culture within the team.

Candidate Profile & Skills:

Experience & Qualifications:

- 3-16 years of post-qualification experience in finance, accounting, or controllership, with at least 2 years in a startup or high-growth company (mandatory).

- CA (Chartered Accountant) qualification is essential.

Technical Acumen:

- Strong command of Indian GAAP/Ind-AS, taxation, and compliance.

- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks across India (IRDAI), UK (FCA/PRA), and US (IRS/GAAP/Statutory rules) is critical.

- Comfort working with auditors, investors, and regulators in a multi-jurisdictional environment.

- Advanced skills in Excel/Google Sheets and extensive experience with modern ERPs/accounting tools (Netsuite experience preferred).

- Proven experience with multi-currency reporting, intercompany reconciliations, and group consolidation (IFRS / US GAAP).

- Demonstrated knowledge of insurance accounting principles, claim provisioning, reserving, and actuarial coordination
