Finance Controller - Advisory Firm
Description:
Key Responsibilities
Business Finance & Planning
- Lead annual budgeting process (Opex/Capex/Headcount) and track performance through monthly reviews
- Monitor revenue, profitability, and cost metrics monthly and quarterly; identify variances and recommend corrective actions
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making for Leadership/ExCo/Board
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and review financial statements as per applicable standards (IND-AS/GAAP)
- Oversee monthly closing, reconciliations, and preparation of MIS reports for management and the board
- Ensure 100% compliance with statutory requirements, including GST, TDS, Advance Tax, and ROC filings.
- Liaise with external auditors for the timely completion of statutory and internal audits, and ensure implementation of audit recommendations.
Cash Flow & Controls
- Monitor & engage with Leaders to ensure timely collection, in line with forecasts
- Oversee accounting operations and day-to-day bookkeeping accuracy, ensuring timely entries, reconciliations, and ledger hygiene
- Monitor cash flow, fund movement, and working capital to ensure healthy liquidity for operational needs
- Manage short-term investment decisions; ensure prudent governance and compliance around fund deployment
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, ensuring documentation, processes, and approvals are audit-ready
- Drive digitisation and automation of finance processes in line with CBVs transformation roadmap
Leadership & Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with departments such as HR, Admin, and Leader to ensure aligned financial operations
- Present financial insights to the Managing Partner/CFO, and ExCO; support Board-level discussions with data-driven inputs
- Stay current with evolving financial regulations, tools, and technologies applicable to professional services firms.
Qualification & Skills Requirements
- Chartered Accountant (CA) / MBA (Finance)
- 8-10 years of relevant post-qualification experience in finance & accounts, preferably in professional services or consulting firms
- Proven expertise in financial reporting, audits, statutory compliance, and budgeting
- Strong grasp of Indian taxation, accounting standards, and corporate laws
- Excellent Excel and analytical skills; familiarity with accounting systems/tools
