Essential Qualification :


- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, Commerce, or a related discipline.


Desirable Qualification :


- MBA or Master's Degree in SCM, Procurement, Operations, or related field.


Age Group :


- Preferably below 45 years


Languages :


- English


Work Experience :


- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, Commercial Operations, or Inventory Management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.


Exposure to manufacturing, agri-inputs, fertilizers, specialty chemicals, biotechnology, food ingredients, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, or related industries will be preferred. The incumbent should possess proven experience in supplier management, contract negotiations, procurement planning, inventory control, cost optimization, working capital management, and ERP-enabled procurement processes.


Role Summary :


We are looking for a dynamic and result-oriented Head - Procurement to lead the Company's procurement, sourcing, inventory management, and supplier relationship functions. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring uninterrupted availability of materials, goods, and services required for Manufacturing, Trading, R&D, and Business Operations at competitive market-benchmarked prices while maintaining optimum inventory levels and working capital efficiency.


The role will drive strategic sourcing, supplier development, procurement cost optimization, inventory governance, risk management, and process excellence through a new-age procurement approach leveraging technology, analytics, market intelligence, and strong supplier partnerships. The incumbent will play a key role in enhancing profitability, strengthening supply continuity, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the Company's growth and business objectives.


The role will also support emerging and strategic business units, including the Food Ingredients business, by developing scalable sourcing strategies, supplier networks, and procurement capabilities aligned with the Company's growth plans.


Role & Responsibilities :


Strategic Planning :


i. Contributing to Long-Term Strategy: Collaborate with the executive leadership team to develop procurement strategies aligned with the Company's business objectives, growth plans, and profitability goals.


ii. Setting Objectives and Targets: Establish measurable procurement KPIs and performance targets aligned with organizational objectives.


iii. Sourcing Optimization: Develop and implement innovative, cost-effective sourcing strategies focusing on supply continuity, cost competitiveness, supplier diversification, and sustainability.


Market Research and Analysis :


i. Conducting Market Research: Continuously monitor market trends, commodity movements, supplier capabilities, technological advancements, and industry developments.


ii. Analyzing Procurement Needs: Assess procurement requirements across Production, Trading, R&D, and support functions and align sourcing strategies accordingly.


iii. Competitive Analysis: Benchmark procurement practices, sourcing costs, and supplier ecosystems against industry competitors to maintain commercial competitiveness.


Supplier Management :


i. Developing Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain strategic, long-term relationships with suppliers and service providers. Continuously identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard new suppliers to promote healthy competition, mitigate supply risks, and reduce procurement costs.


ii. Negotiating Contracts: Negotiate favorable commercial terms including pricing, payment terms, credit periods, delivery schedules, service commitments, and annual contracts to maximize business value and improve working capital efficiency.


iii. Monitoring Supplier Performance: Develop and implement a Vendor Performance Scorecard with weighted parameters including cost competitiveness, product quality, delivery performance, responsiveness, compliance, innovation support, and service levels. Conduct periodic supplier evaluations and improvement programs.


iv. Contract Review and Governance: Periodically review supplier agreements and contracts to ensure commercial viability, competitiveness, compliance, and risk mitigation.


Sourcing and Procurement :


i. Managing Procurement Operations: Oversee end-to-end procurement activities including sourcing, vendor selection, tendering, negotiation, contracting, and purchase order management.


ii. Procurement Channel Optimization: Optimize procurement channels to improve service levels, reduce lead times, and enhance procurement efficiency.


iii. Procurement Performance Monitoring: Monitor procurement KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve effectiveness and productivity.


iv. Material Availability Management: Ensure uninterrupted availability of required materials, goods, and services for Manufacturing, Trading, R&D, and Business Operations at competitive market-benchmarked prices.


v. Purchase Order Governance: Review and approve purchase orders within delegated authority limits and ensure timely execution and delivery of goods and services.


Inventory Management :


i. Inventory Planning and Control: Develop and implement inventory management strategies for Raw Materials (RM), Packing Materials (PM), Finished Goods (FG), Consumables, and MRO Items across manufacturing plants, ports, warehouses, and field locations.


ii. Inventory Systems Management: Utilize ERP and inventory management systems to ensure real-time inventory visibility and control.


iii. Inventory Performance Monitoring: Monitor inventory turnover, ageing, stock coverage, slow-moving inventory, and stock-out risks.


iv. Inventory Optimization: Establish inventory norms and replenishment models to improve inventory productivity and working capital utilization.


v. Physical Verification and Reconciliation: Ensure periodic physical verification and reconciliation of inventory across all storage locations and drive corrective actions for inventory variances.


Risk Management :


i. Procurement Risk Identification: Identify supplier, commercial, market, operational, geopolitical, regulatory, and logistics risks.


ii. Risk Mitigation: Develop mitigation plans and alternate sourcing strategies to ensure business continuity.


iii. Continuous Risk Monitoring: Monitor emerging risks and proactively initiate preventive measures.


iv. Contract and Supplier Risk Assessment: Conduct commercial and operational risk assessments of major contracts, sourcing arrangements, and supplier engagements.


Technology and Innovation :


i. Procurement Systems Management: Oversee procurement, inventory, shipment tracking, supplier management, and ERP systems to improve visibility, compliance, and decision-making.


ii. Leveraging Analytics: Utilize analytics and business intelligence tools to improve procurement effectiveness and identify cost-saving opportunities.


iii. Driving Innovation: Explore innovative sourcing models, digital procurement tools, and best practices to enhance operational excellence.


Sustainability and Compliance :


i. Promoting Sustainability: Develop and implement sustainable procurement practices focusing on resource efficiency, environmental responsibility, and long-term value creation.


ii. Ensuring Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and quality standards.


iii. Maintaining Transparency: Maintain integrity, transparency, and ethical standards in all procurement activities and supplier interactions.


iv. SOP Development: List all critical activities within the overall function and sub-functions, develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and ensure adherence to the same.


- Collaboration with Other Functions :


i. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Finance, Production, R&D, Commercial, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams to ensure alignment of procurement strategies and business objectives.


ii. Providing Procurement Insights: Provide procurement insights and recommendations to support business planning, budgeting, product development, and operational decision-making.


iii. Supporting Business Goals: Ensure procurement initiatives directly contribute to organizational growth, profitability, and operational excellence.


iv. Strategic Business Enablement: Partner with emerging business units and new ventures to establish sourcing strategies, supplier ecosystems, procurement processes, and supply continuity plans that support business scale-up and commercialization.


Team Leadership :


i. Building a High-Performing Team: Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing procurement team while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.


ii. Providing Performance Feedback: Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support professional development of team members.

Budgeting and Reporting :


i. Managing Budgets: Develop, manage, and control procurement budgets while driving sustainable cost savings, value creation, and working capital improvement.


ii. Preparing Reports: Generate periodic procurement reports and management dashboards highlighting procurement performance and key business metrics.


iii. Financial Analysis: Conduct spend analysis, savings analysis, and procurement ROI assessments to support strategic decision-making.


iv. Business Performance Reporting: Track and report procurement savings, supplier performance, inventory health, working capital improvements, procurement efficiency metrics, and risk indicators.
