Deputy General Manager/General Manager - Project Development

Role Summary:
Looking for a passionate Leader and Engineering enthusiast with consistent exposure and track records of Project Development, Management & Delivery of projects for Industrial & Process Plants (preferably Chemical) / EPC / Turnkey Projects including Techno Economic Feasibility Studies, Plant concept design & detail engineering, evaluation of competitive technologies, Procurement, Logistics, Turnkey Construction, Commissioning, Risk management, Government Liaison, Licensing, Regulatory/ Statutory Approvals & Compliances with an entrepreneurship mindset, accountability, agility and focus on overcoming obstacles, actions, implementation and continuous.
Role & Responsibilities:
1. Project Management (Planning & Execution):
- Conceptualizing and screening new projects and conducting feasibility studies to determine the viability based on technical, financial and economic parameters.
- Preparing detailed engineering, procurement/ contracting and construction management plans and budgets, ensuring adherence to project milestones and objectives.
- Monitoring Cost and Time over-runs to ensure timely execution of projects within budget.
- Monitor project progress, identifying potential bottlenecks and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Value engineering by establishing systems and procedures for the entire life cycle of project management.
- Project costing and presentations for project investment decisions.
- Ensure seamless transition from project phase to operational phase.
2. Liaisoning and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to mitigate any risks during project execution.
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities to secure necessary approvals, permits, and clearances for project implementation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders and communicate project updates and compliance matters.
- Interpret and apply relevant regulations to project activities, managing compliance effectively.
3. Resource Allocation and Management:
- Manage project budgets, allocate resources, and optimize resource utilization to achieve project goals.
- EPC procurement, vendor management, and logistics aspects of project execution.
4. Risk Management and Safety Compliance:
- Identify potential risks related to project implementation, regulatory compliance.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize project disruptions.
5. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
- Establish performance metrics and KPIs to measure project success and impact.
- Implement monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track project progress and outcomes.
- Prepare regular reports for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting achievements and addressing challenges.
6. Team Development and Collaboration:
- Mentor, coach, and develop team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other functions to ensure holistic project development.
Functional/ Technical Competencies:
- Ability to work on micro as well as macro level with deep understanding of Mechanical Engineering, manufacturing, project execution, shop floor practices, procurements with cost control, resource management, and planning.
- Possess excellent strategic thinking, analytical, troubleshooting, interpersonal, relationship building and team building skills with proven ability in establishing competent teams, Quality Systems, Procedures.
- Financial acumen for project financing, budgeting, resource allocation, and cost management.
- Understanding of work of other technical disciplines and commercial, legal terms and conditions of various contracts.
- Proven track record of successful liaisoning with Government bodies and regulatory agencies.
- Familiar with all Safety systems, Environmental Toxicity and Handling Safety Audits, Hazard & Operability Study (HAZOP) Study, and Risk Assessment.
- Proficiency in project management software, tools, and regulatory compliance systems.
