Job Description:

Job Title: Ferrous Logistics Head

Department: Supply Chain / Logistics

Location: Gurugram

Reporting To: Chief of Staff

Role Overview:

The Ferrous Logistics Head will be responsible for managing the complete logistics lifecycle for ferrous products traded through the platform, ensuring seamless movement from order confirmation to final delivery. The role requires strong expertise in bulk commodity logistics, transporter management, cost optimization, and operational scalability.

The incumbent will drive logistics efficiency, strengthen vendor partnerships, and build scalable processes to support growing transaction volumes while maintaining high service levels and cost competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

Logistics Operations Management:

- Manage end-to-end logistics operations from order confirmation to final delivery for ferrous commodities.

- Ensure smooth coordination between suppliers, customers, transporters, warehouses, and third-party logistics partners.

- Plan and optimize transportation via road, rail, and multimodal solutions based on shipment size and geography.

- Ensure timely vehicle placement, dispatch tracking, and delivery completion.

Transportation & Vendor Management:

- Negotiate freight rates and manage transporter/vendor contracts to achieve competitive pricing.

- Develop and maintain a strong transporter network across regions.

- Monitor transporter performance and enforce service-level commitments.

Shipment Monitoring & Issue Resolution:

- Track shipments in real time and proactively resolve transit delays, shortages, or operational issues.

- Minimize freight costs, transit losses, delays, and claims exposure.

- Ensure timely delivery confirmations and Proof of Delivery (POD) management.

Documentation & Compliance:

- Oversee logistics documentation including:

E-way bills

Invoices

Weighbridge slips

PODs

Compliance and statutory records

- Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements across regions.

Process Excellence & Scalability:

- Develop scalable logistics processes aligned with business growth.

- Design and implement SOPs and SLAs for logistics partners and suppliers.

- Drive process automation and digitization initiatives within logistics operations.

Analytics & Reporting:

- Track logistics KPIs including freight cost, turnaround time, delivery performance, and claim ratios.

- Generate MIS reports and operational dashboards for management review.

- Use data insights to improve efficiency and decision-making.

Team Leadership:

- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing logistics coordination team.

- Drive accountability, performance culture, and operational excellence.

- Ensure cross-functional collaboration with sales, procurement, and operations teams.

Educational Qualification:

- Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.

- MBA / PGDM preferred.

Experience:

8-15 years of experience in:

- Steel trading or ferrous commodity logistics

- Commodity supply chain operations

- E-commerce supply chain or B2B marketplace logistics

- Proven experience handling bulk ferrous material logistics.

- Strong regional transporter and logistics partner network.

- Experience working with ERP systems and digital shipment tracking tools.
