Role Overview:

The Head of Risk & Policy will serve as a strategic leader responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring the organization's Credit Risk Management Framework, Underwriting Policies, Portfolio Risk Controls, Collection Risk Strategies, and Regulatory Compliance standards, governance frameworks, and policy architecture across the Gold Loan and Loan Against Property (LAP) businesses. This role involves working closely with the Senior leadership, and regulatory bodies to ensure maintains a robust risk posture amidst a dynamic economic environment. By overseeing credit, market, and operational risk policies, will drive portfolio quality, ensure sustainable growth, optimize risk-adjusted returns, and safeguard the organization against credit, operational, and fraud risks.

Key Responsibilities:

- Formulate and implement comprehensive risk management policies across credit, market, and operational domains to ensure alignment with the bank's strategic objectives and regulatory mandates.

- Develop and implement robust credit risk frameworks across retail and secured lending products.

- Define underwriting standards, approval matrices, risk acceptance criteria, and credit policies. Monitor portfolio quality indicators including Delinquency, PAR, NPA, Roll Rates, Vintage Analysis, and Credit Cost.

- Drive portfolio risk reviews and recommend corrective actions for emerging risk trends. Establish risk appetite and exposure limits aligned with business objectives.

- Design and periodically review credit, underwriting, deviation, restructuring, auction, and collection policies.

- Ensure policies remain aligned with RBI guidelines and industry best practices.

- Lead policy committee discussions and obtain necessary management approvals.

- Implement governance mechanisms for policy adherence across business units.

- Track portfolio performance across products, geographies, branches, channels, and customer segments.

- Conduct portfolio stress testing and scenario analysis.

- Recommend risk mitigation strategies based on portfolio behavior and market trends.

- Drive data-backed decisions through MIS, dashboards, and predictive analytics.

- Establish fraud prevention and detection controls.

- Investigate emerging fraud patterns and implement preventive measures.

- Coordinate with Audit, Vigilance, Operations, and Legal teams for fraud governance.

- Ensure compliance with RBI regulations, internal audit observations, and risk governance requirements.

- Liaise with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders on risk-related matters.

- Support Internal Audit, Statutory Audit, and Regulatory inspections.

Required Skillset:

- Demonstrated expertise in designing and managing risk frameworks within a large-scale NBFC environment, with 20 - 25 years of professional experience.

- Proven track record of engaging effectively with regulators, and senior stakeholders to drive consensus on critical risk governance matters. Proven leadership experience in NBFC, Gold Loan, Housing Finance, Retail Lending, Consumer Finance, or Banking institutions.

- Advanced educational background in MBA / PGDM (Finance), CA, CFA, FRM, or equivalent qualification preferred.

- Strong understanding of RBI regulations and NBFC risk frameworks.
