JOB TITLE: Director of Engineering

LOCATION: Andheri, Mumbai

Position Overview:

As a Director of Engineering at FatakPay Digital Private Ltd, you will lead the design, development, scalability, and operational excellence of our fintech platforms serving millions of users. You will be responsible for managing cross-functional engineering teams across backend, frontend, mobile, QA, and DevOps while driving high-performance, cloud-native, microservices-based systems.

The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise across backend systems, frontend technologies, mobile ecosystems, cloud infrastructure, event-driven architectures, and scalable database design. Experience in insurance, insuretech, or fintech domains and handling high-scale production systems is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

- Lead architecture, design, and development of scalable microservices-based applications.

- Drive engineering best practices, code quality, security, and scalability initiatives.

- Architect and optimize systems capable of handling million-plus user scale.

- Design robust event-driven systems using Kafka and asynchronous task processing frameworks like Celery or Redis.

- Oversee deployment, monitoring, and scaling of applications on AWS or GCP infrastructure.

- Ensure high availability, performance optimization, and reliability across systems.

Backend & Database Management:

- Design and maintain scalable backend systems using Python-based technologies.

- Build and optimize RESTful APIs and distributed systems.

- Architect relational and NoSQL database systems including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.

- Collaborate on analytical and data-driven systems using BigQuery or Hadoop where applicable.

Frontend & Mobile Oversight:

- Work closely with frontend teams using React.js, Next.js, and Vue.js.

- Collaborate with mobile teams working on React Native and Flutter.

- Ensure seamless integration between frontend, backend, and mobile platforms.

Cloud & DevOps:

- Manage CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments.

- Work closely with DevOps teams on Kubernetes, Docker, infrastructure scaling, and monitoring.

- Ensure cloud security and operational best practices.

Team Management:

- Lead and mentor a team of 10-15+ engineers, including backend, frontend, mobile, QA, and DevOps developers.

- Drive sprint planning, resource allocation, performance management, and hiring.

- Foster a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, collaboration, and innovation.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

- 15 years of experience in software engineering with leadership responsibilities.

- Proven experience managing engineering teams in high-scale environments.

- Strong understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven systems, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure.

Technical Skills Required:

- Python, FastAPI, Django, REST APIs, Microservices, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Redis, Celery, React.js, Next.js, Vue.js, React Native, Flutter, AWS, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD Pipelines.

Preferred Experience:

- Experience in InsureTech or FinTech domain.

- Exposure to AI-driven or data-heavy platforms is an added advantage.

- Experience handling large-scale production systems with high traffic and transactional volume.
