Family Office Role


Role Overview


The Head of Family Office will lead the strategic, financial, and administrative management of a diversified - 250- 500 crore family portfolio, including operating companies, investments, and philanthropic entities. Based in Pune, the role will integrate investment oversight, tax optimization, governance, and next-generation succession planning - ensuring long-term wealth preservation, growth, and family continuity, including play a role in an upcoming IPO from the promoter angle.

CA is a MUST.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Wealth & Investment Management

- Develop and execute a comprehensive investment strategy that balances growth, income, and preservation objectives.

- Manage diversified asset classes including listed equities, AIFs, private equity, real estate, venture capital, debt instruments, and alternative investments.

- Conduct due diligence and monitor portfolio performance, liquidity, and asset allocation.

- Prepare consolidated dashboards covering NAV, IRR, and risk exposure across all asset classes and geographies.

- Evaluate co-investment opportunities with trusted partners, family networks, or institutional funds.

2. Tax Strategy, Structuring & Compliance

- Formulate and oversee domestic and international tax strategy for all family holdings, trusts, and investment entities.

- Manage Direct Taxes (Income Tax, Capital Gains, Dividend Distribution) and Indirect Taxes (GST implications on businesses and assets).

- Coordinate with tax advisors on global structures (e.g., Singapore, Luxembourg, U.S., DR) to ensure alignment with FEMA, RBI, and OECD BEPS guidelines.

Review and ensure compliance under:

- Income Tax Act (India) - including clubbing provisions, HUF, and family trusts.

- Black Money (Undisclosed Foreign Income and Assets) Act.

- Transfer Pricing, GAAR, and POEM requirements for offshore structures.

- Oversee timely tax filings, assessments, and representations before authorities.

- Optimize after-tax returns through effective structuring, loss harvesting, and timing strategies.

- Maintain a proactive understanding of regulatory updates from CBDT, SEBI, and MCA.

3. Governance, Risk & Legal Affairs

- Establish and maintain a family governance framework covering decision rights, asset allocation policy, and succession guidelines.

- Oversee structuring and compliance for trusts, LLPs, private limited companies, and SPVs.

- Ensure all entities adhere to ROC filings, FCRA, FEMA returns, and statutory audits.

- Maintain adequate insurance (life, key-man, property, liability) across entities.

- Liaise with external legal, accounting, and audit advisors to ensure risk mitigation and compliance integrity.

4. Financial Control & Reporting

- Lead the creation of an integrated Family Office MIS capturing all investment, business, and personal finance data.

- Supervise treasury and fund flow management across family entities.

- Track and report monthly and quarterly performance, budget vs. actuals, and consolidated balance sheet positions.

- Oversee valuation, audit coordination, and investment reconciliations.

- Present periodic performance reviews to family principals.
