Job Description:
Factory Head - Power Industry to lead end-to-end plant operations for a manufacturing facility serving the EPC, Power Transmission, Transmission Line Hardware, Electrical Hardware, and Conductor sectors.
The position will be responsible for driving production, operational excellence, quality, productivity, cost optimization, safety, maintenance, and on-time delivery, while ensuring efficient utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and other plant resources.Looking for an experienced Factory Head to lead overall plant operations and ensure efficient, safe, and profitable manufacturing. The role will be responsible for production, quality, maintenance, safety, manpower, cost management, and continuous improvement across the factory.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Operational Management:
i. Lead the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing plant and ensure smooth and efficient plant functioning.
ii. Monitor production plans and schedules and ensure alignment with business targets, customer requirements, and delivery commitments.
iii. Set and monitor plant performance against defined standards and targets across manufacturing efficiency, productivity, cost, quality, maintenance, inventory control, dispatch, and manpower management.
iv. Ensure optimum utilization of plant capacity, machinery, manpower, raw materials, and other resources.
v. Drive operational discipline and ensure effective coordination between Production, PPC, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, Procurement, and other functions.
- Health, Safety & Compliance:
i. Ensure strict adherence to plant safety procedures, statutory requirements, environmental regulations, and applicable industry standards.
ii. Promote a strong safety culture and ensure implementation of appropriate preventive and corrective actions.
iii. Ensure compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, customer, and internal requirements.
- Quality Assurance:
i. Ensure manufacturing processes and finished products comply with customer specifications, approved drawings, quality standards, and applicable industry requirements.
ii. Drive continuous improvement in quality, process capability, rejection reduction, and customer satisfaction.
iii. Monitor and address quality deviations, customer complaints, rework, and rejection through effective root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Cost & Resource Optimization:
i. Manage plant operating costs and ensure effective utilization of manpower, materials, machinery, energy, and other resources.
ii. Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs, material wastage, rejection, rework, and operational losses.
iii. Drive initiatives for automation, process optimization, productivity improvement, and efficient utilization of manufacturing capacity.
- Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement:
i. Lead OPEX and CAPEX deployment within the plant in alignment with business priorities.
ii. Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives, wherever applicable.
iii. Establish and monitor key plant KPIs related to productivity, OEE, quality, cost, delivery, downtime, and efficiency.
iv. Identify process gaps and implement sustainable solutions to improve overall plant performance.
- Production & Manufacturing Management:
i. Oversee manufacturing operations for Transmission Line Hardware, Electrical Hardware, Conductors, fittings, accessories, and related power transmission products.
ii. Ensure production output is achieved as per approved production plans, quality requirements, and customer delivery schedules.
iii. Monitor production efficiency, machine utilization, downtime, material yield, wastage, rejection, and rework.
iv. Ensure effective coordination with Engineering, PPC, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, and Supply Chain functions.
- Project & Customer Management:
i. Lead end-to-end execution of manufacturing-related projects, including capacity expansion, new product introduction, process development, and plant improvement initiatives.
ii. Coordinate with Engineering, Commercial, Project, and Customer teams to understand product requirements, technical specifications, and delivery commitments.
iii. Support customer audits, inspections, technical visits, and resolution of manufacturing-related customer concerns.
- Maintenance & Engineering:
i. Ensure effective preventive and predictive maintenance of plant machinery, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure.
ii. Monitor equipment availability, breakdowns, downtime, and maintenance effectiveness.
iii. Identify requirements for plant modernization, automation, machinery upgrades, and capacity enhancement.
- Team Leadership & Development:
i. Build and lead a high-performing team across Production, Quality, Maintenance, PPC, Stores, Engineering, and other plant functions.
ii. Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to strengthen technical and managerial capabilities.
iii. Establish clear performance objectives, KPIs, accountability, and performance review mechanisms.
iv. Develop a culture of ownership, discipline, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Reporting & Analytics:
i. Prepare and present periodic plant performance reports to senior management.
ii. Monitor key operational metrics including production, OEE, productivity, quality, rejection, cost, downtime, inventory, and on-time delivery.
iii. Use data-driven insights to identify operational gaps and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Experience and Qualification:
15+ years of experience in manufacturing / plant operations, preferably within the Power, Electrical, Transmission Line Hardware, Conductor, Electrical Hardware, EPC, or related engineering industry.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a Factory Head / Plant Head / Plant Operations leadership role with responsibility for end-to-end plant operations.
Experience in Transmission Line Hardware, Electrical Hardware, Conductors, Power Transmission products, or related electrical engineering manufacturing is highly preferred.
Strong experience in production planning, manufacturing operations, quality management, maintenance, cost control, CAPEX/OPEX, and operational excellence.
BE/B.TECH/M.TECH in Electrical / Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, Kaizen, 5S, or similar methodologies will be an advantage.
