Position Summary: The overarching goal of Business Analysis role is to promote the design and build of quality services to enable business processes. Business analysts facilitate business process improvement via the methodical investigation, analysis, review and documentation of all or part of a business in terms of business functions and processes. The Business Analysis role is responsible for supporting the 1) development of functional and non-functional requirements during the initial phases of the software development lifecycle and 2) management of requirements throughout the duration of the lifecycle. Senior business analysts facilitate business process improvement via the methodical investigation, analysis, review and documentation of all or part of a business in terms of business functions and processes. They successfully manage the requirements development process through the elicitation, analysis, specification and verification of multiple levels of requirements while providing continuous improvement to the process and methods. Work is often self-initiated. They may have significant responsibility for the work of others and assisting the team in whatever format as possible - testing, UI, Story Writing, Process modeling, etc. They develop business relationships with customers. A senior business analyst undertakes work which requires the application of fundamental principles in a wide and often unpredictable range of contexts. We are looking for someone with intermediate skills in Agile and the Story Author role in Agile. Product Owner experience a plus. Essential Functions of the Job: The responsibilities of the Business Analysis role is to: - Plan, estimate and socialize the business analysis approach. This information will be provided to and used by the team and project manager for the purpose to estimating time and effort. - Identify the business need for the change by understanding the problem the business is trying to solve or the opportunities to improve the business. This may include assessing the current capabilities of the business to support the business need. - Requirements that are created must be (at all levels) understandable, unambiguous and capable of being implemented and tested. This yields multiple levels of requirements in support of the business vision - Performing an active role in the User Story and Backlog creation process Provides creative/innovative ideas in the context of the product owner's vision Writes user stories, acceptance criteria and accepts functionality Writes technical stories as appropriate Investigates the - back story- to provide clear acceptance criteria Interacts with subject matter experts Advises the product owner on prioritization of the product backlog Getting user stories in the hands of the developers and testers as quickly as possible - Advising developers &amp; testers Support them as they ask detailed questions Provide clarification during development of story functionality - Key Attributes of a BA Facilitator Logical Dependable Knowledge and Skills Requirements: - Thought leadership and technical guidance to engineering staff - Be able to be flexible in project assignments as the project's prioritization may change on a frequent basis Other Requirements: - Be able to be a critical thinker and open to exploring ideas concepts that may be foreign to them Education: - University degree in a technical field preferred Experience: - IT background with experience across the systems development life cycle with experience in different project phases - Very good understanding of the customer strategy, services and business processes - Knowledge of service transition methodology, tools and templates - Ability to create User Stories and work in an Agile environment - Track record of customer focus, based on openness, trust, and delivering on promises - Be able to proficiently use TFS, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio Soft Skills/Behavioral Requirements: - Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills - Ability to work and team effectively with IT Services groups and other management personnel including on a global, virtual basis - Track record of customer focus, based on openness, trust, and delivering on promises - Management skills to manage more than one transition simultaneously - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - must be able to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing - Be a skilled Story Author - Be able to effectively collaborate with other disciplines throughout the business analysis process - Be able to time box activities such that Requirements can be base-lined prior to design and build processes - Be able to perform impact assessments prior to processing changes in order to provide clear and concise holistic impact(s) to a system based on change(s) requested
