About the Role:
The Client is seeking a senior leader to set up, scale, and manage the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Underwriting team supporting the US market. This is a high-visibility leadership role overseeing end-to-end CRE underwriting delivery, governance, team development, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, establish, and scale the CRE underwriting function supporting US-based real estate portfolios.
- Drive underwriting delivery, oversight, governance, and execution excellence across the CRE lifecycle.
- Mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing team of 1520 CRE professionals, ensuring capability uplift and strong operational discipline.
- Partner with senior onshore stakeholders, coverage teams, and cross-functional partners to ensure seamless underwriting and approval workflows.
- Standardize and streamline underwriting processes across sub-segments and asset classes.
- Expand scope across CRE sub-lines, manage transitions, and stabilize new processes.
- Lead efficiency, automation, and quality-improvement initiatives across the function.
- Ensure regulatory adherence, risk controls, and documentation standards are consistently met.
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications:
- 18+ years of experience in Commercial Real Estate across Underwriting, Asset Management, or Valuation.
- 8+ years of proven leadership experience managing mid-sized to large teams.
- Strong understanding of US Commercial Real Estate markets, underwriting frameworks, and financial analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience setting up or scaling CRE underwriting teams (India/Global capability centers preferred).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with US-based senior leadership.
- Demonstrated experience improving processes, driving efficiencies, and leading transformation initiatives.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment with multiple priorities.
