
About the Role :
We are looking for a qualified Chartered Accountant with 4-5 years of post-qualification experience to join our finance team as Manager - Accounts & Taxation. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in managing the company's accounting, direct and indirect taxation, statutory compliances, and financial reporting functions. This position demands a thorough understanding of Indian tax laws, international taxation, transfer pricing regulations, and corporate governance under the Companies Act, 2013.
Key Responsibilities:
GST Compliance & Management:
- End-to-end overview and management of Goods & Services Tax (GST) compliance including timely filing of GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, and GSTR-9C.
- Reconciliation of GST returns with books of accounts, input tax credit (ITC) verification, and resolution of mismatches.
- Handling GST assessments, audits, notices, and departmental communications.
- Advisory on GST applicability on new business transactions and structuring.
Income Tax Compliance:
- Overseeing computation of advance tax, TDS/TCS compliances, and timely filing of income tax returns.
- Management of tax assessments, appeals, rectifications, and responses to notices under the Income Tax Act, 1961.
- Tax planning and advisory to optimise the company's tax liability within the legal framework.
- Coordination with external tax consultants and auditors for tax audits and transfer pricing audits.
MIS Preparation & Review:
- Preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual Management Information System (MIS) reports.
- Variance analysis, budgeting support, and key financial metrics tracking for management decision-making.
- Presentation of financial information, dashboards, and analytical summaries to senior management and the Director - Finance.
Agreements Review:
- Review of commercial agreements, vendor contracts, service-level agreements, and inter-company arrangements from a finance, tax, and compliance perspective.
- Identification of financial risks, tax implications, and regulatory obligations arising out of contractual terms.
Payroll Overview & Labour Law Compliances:
- Overview and verification of monthly payroll processing, including salary structuring, statutory deductions (PF, ESI, PT, LWF), and full & final settlements.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable labour laws including the Employees' Provident Fund Act, ESI Act, Payment of Bonus Act, Payment of Gratuity Act, and related statutes.
- Coordination with HR for payroll-related queries and annual returns filing.
Accounting Review & Ledger Scrutiny:
- Comprehensive review of books of accounts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to applicable Accounting Standards (Ind AS / Indian GAAP).
- Periodic ledger scrutiny, bank reconciliations, inter-company reconciliations, and balance confirmations.
- Identification and resolution of accounting discrepancies, journal entry reviews, and month-end/year-end closing activities.
Audit & Due Diligence Support:
- Supporting statutory auditors during annual audits by providing schedules, working papers, and required documentation in a timely manner.
- Assisting in internal audit processes, addressing audit observations, and ensuring implementation of corrective actions.
- Providing support during financial, tax, and legal due diligence exercises undertaken by the company or external parties.
- Preparation and review of due diligence data rooms, information memoranda, and responses to due diligence questionnaires.
- Coordinating with cross-functional teams to collate and verify data required for due diligence and audit purposes.
International Tax & Transfer Pricing (With the support of external consultants):
- Overview of international tax implications on cross-border transactions, withholding tax obligations, and DTAA applicability.
- Assistance in preparation and review of transfer pricing documentation, benchmarking analysis, and Form 3CEB certification.
- Ensuring compliance with FEMA regulations and RBI guidelines for international remittances.
Companies Act & ROC Compliances (With the support of external consultants):
- Ensuring timely compliance with the Companies Act, 2013, including filing of annual returns, board resolutions, and statutory forms with the Registrar of Companies (ROC).
- Coordination with the Company Secretary for board meeting compliances, director related filings, and charge-related registrations.
- Maintaining statutory registers and records as required under the Act.
Team Management:
- Leading, mentoring, and managing a team of accounts and finance executives.
- Delegation of work, performance monitoring, knowledge sharing, and development of team capabilities.
- Ensuring adherence to internal controls, SOPs, and timelines across all deliverables.
Desired Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of Accounting, GST, Income Tax, International Taxation, and Transfer Pricing.
- Thorough understanding of the Companies Act, 2013, and ROC compliance framework.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Tally) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present financial data to senior leadership.
- High attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Proactive, self-driven, and capable of working independently as well as in a team environment.
- Prior experience in handling statutory and internal audits is preferred.
