Your Impact
- We're looking for an Amazon and Marketplace Expert/ Specialist who can drive category growth, optimize performance marketing, and shape end-to-end eCommerce strategy for our clients across platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, BigBasket, Blinkit, Tiktok , Walmart etc.
- You will bring deep expertise in India and international markets (US and beyond), proven leadership skills, and the ability to influence CXOs while managing large, complex portfolios.
- This person will act as the bridge between category strategy and performance execution, using data, insights, and creativity to help brands win on marketplaces.
- This role is about ensuring our clients win the algorithm and dominate the digital shelf. As a marketplace expert, you will join McKinsey's Digital Marketing hub (DMH) and will be part of our client service team to take ownership of ecommerce projects and solve some of the toughest challenges our clients face. -
Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership
- Define and own the long-term marketplace growth strategy across multiple platforms, categories, and geographies.
- Translate brand objectives into scalable marketplace strategies, ensuring alignment with business growth and profitability goals.
- Anticipate industry shifts (AI, automation, new marketplaces) and position clients ahead of the curve.
- Have deep understanding of category, pricing, JBPs, performance marketing, PDPs etc for different marketplaces.
2. Category & Growth Management
- Develop and execute growth plans for key categories and SKUs across marketplaces.
- Build and manage Joint Business Plans (JBPs) with Amazon and other partners.
- Track competitive pricing, assortment, and promotional strategies to identify gaps and opportunities.
3. AI-Driven Growth & Performance Marketing
- Spearhead the adoption of AI-powered marketing, automation, and machine learning to transform how clients win on marketplaces.
- Leverage advanced marketplace tools (Pacvue, Helium10, JungleScout, ROI Hunter) and custom analytics to inform high-stakes decisions.
- Shape data-led bidding, product positioning, and performance strategies that deliver sustainable RO
4. Pricing, Promotions & Assortment
- Define event-based pricing strategies (BAU, PP, MC gaps).
- Plan and execute deals, coupons, and bundles for key sale events (e.g., Great Indian Festival, Big Billion Days).
- Optimize assortment based on profitability, search visibility, and customer demand.
Marketplace Advertising & Optimization
- Oversee large-scale campaigns across Amazon Sponsored Ads, DSP, Flipkart Ads, Myntra Ads, Nykaa Marketing platforms, Zepto/ Blinking/ Instamart platforms and new-age retail media.
- Build frameworks to optimize for ACOS, ROAS, visibility, share of voice, and customer acquisition while balancing long-term profitability.
- Drive digital shelf excellence through PDP optimization, content, and AI-driven creative testing.
5. Content & PDP Optimization
- Audit and enhance Product Detail Pages (PDPs) for SEO, conversion, and compliance.
- Ensure A+ Content, brand store, and creative assets are aligned with marketplace best practices.
Analytics & Reporting:
- Monitor category performance KPIs: sales, CVR, share of voice, and organic visibility.
- Present actionable insights and performance reviews to internal teams and clients.
- Use tools like Amazon Brand Analytics, Helium10, DataHawk, or internal dashboards
6. Client & Business Impact
- Serve as a trusted advisor to CXOs and senior leadership, shaping how performance marketing drives enterprise growth.
- Own P&L responsibility for a multi-million-dollar portfolio, ensuring consistent delivery of outcomes and client satisfaction.
- Present high-impact insights, reviews, and AI-powered recommendations that influence strategic decision-making.
- You will be based in Gurgaon and will be part of Digital marketing Hub- which is a part of the Growth, Marketing and Sales practice. The Growth, Marketing & Sales Practice strives to help clients in both consumer and business-to-business environments on a wide variety of marketing and sales topics. The mission of this practice is to help clients achieve marketing-driven profit growth.

Your Qualifications and Skills
1. 7-12 years of experience in Performance Marketing, with at least 5 years focused on marketplace commerce (Amazon, Flipkart, Walmart, TikTok, etc.).
2. Demonstrated success in leading AI-powered performance marketing and automation strategies at scale.
3. Proven track record of managing multi-million-dollar portfolios with direct P&L ownership.
Deep understanding of e-commerce algorithms, bidding dynamics, PDP optimization, and digital shelf management.
4. Strong analytical foundation (Excel, SQL, data visualization tools) with the ability to translate data into business insights.
5. Exceptional CXO-level stakeholder management and advisory skills.
