Role Overview:
We are seeking a high-calibre Business Development Manager to lead Ethos' entry into new luxury categories. This is a high-impact, entrepreneurial role that requires strategic thinking, an acute sense of the luxury landscape, and strong commercial and partnership-building skills. The selected individual will be responsible for identifying market opportunities, evaluating brand fit, building relationships with international principals, and laying the foundation for scalable business lines across luxury verticals like fine jewellery, travel accessories, fashion, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning & Market Mapping: Identify white spaces in India's luxury retail landscape and map category and brand opportunities across jewellery, travel gear, fashion and lifestyle.
- Brand Prospecting & Partnerships: Lead outreach and relationship-building with global luxury brands-assessing alignment, commercial viability, and long-term potential.
- Business Case Development: Build detailed business plans including market sizing, consumer insights, competitive benchmarking, projected P&Ls, investment requirements, and profitability timelines.
- Negotiations & Commercial Structuring: Drive initial negotiations with brand principals and align on terms, formats (exclusive retail, shop-in-shop, ecommerce), and go-to-market strategies.
- Cross-Functional Execution: Collaborate closely with merchandising, projects, marketing, and sales teams to transition plans into tangible business rollouts.
- Luxury Trends & Insights: Stay abreast of global luxury trends, evolving consumer preferences, and macroeconomic shifts affecting the category.
Candidate Profile:
Education:
- Premier MBA (IIMs/ISB/Global equivalent) or graduate from top international business or luxury schools.
Experience:
- 7-10 years of experience in luxury retail, brand management, strategic partnerships, or premium lifestyle businesses.
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong understanding of the global luxury ecosystem
- Experience in initiating and managing high-value brand partnerships
- Entrepreneurial mindset with financial acumen and commercial rigor
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Tasteful, brand-sensitive, and culturally fluent in the world of luxury
